I am so excited the day has finally come. We are closing on our first home on Tuesday! It has been such a long process since we put the first offer in on our home at the end of July. We are buying a foreclosure which also has some of its own challeneges. We have been waiting since 8/6 for the bank (Fannie Mae) that owns the house to sign one piece of paper that our lendor needs. We finally got it back this morning, which means we can close on Tuesday!
So, any ideas for special and memorable things to do when we close? Of course we want to take a picture in front of the house. But, are there any other special things you all have done to remember the awesome moment? (Note: we won’t be moving in for another two weeks)

That’s wonderful! Congrats! FI and I just grabbed some fast food and champagne to celebrate after going to our house after closing. Looking back, I wish we had taken some pictures to commemorate it.

@SpringDaisy5: Congrats! I’m so jealous… we’re still 3 weeks away from our closing date. And it’s been a bumpy ride for sure.
Sorry I can’t offer advice for what to do.. Darling Husband and I just planned on buying a bottle of wine and drinking it at the new house (on the floor, haha)

Congratulations! I remember how excited we were when we bought our first home. And I don’t mind saying that I was also a little scared. The mortgage and the house seemed like such a huge responsibility.
Take your picture in front of the house, then do it again every year on the anniversary date of your purchase. You will see the changes in the house, the yard and your family!

congratulations on the house!
i think when my parents closed on their house (they bought 5 years ago), mom took pictures of every room, then we started painting immediately. nothing ceremonial, just started painting while it was still empty.
when/if Fiance and i ever buy, i want to sit on the living room floor and have a picnic.

Congratulations! such an exciting time 🙂
We had a fun moment, our first day in the house, no furniture yet and we were all starving, we set a blanket on the floor and had an awesome picnic lunch with Fiance and daughter on the floor of our living room. It was nice because it felt like we were breaking the place in. oh and you know have a glass of wine that night 😉

@SpringDaisy5: we had been saving a bottle of wine, and we took take-out and ate. THEN we started painting. We did take pictures of the whole house (mostly to commemorate befores and after), but we did have our realtor take one at the front door.
