Try to find Twinkle light netting (I googled twinkle light net and found some vendors) and you can use it for the roof
lots of lights (nets, strands, the twinkle hanging isicle type ones) and a dedicated outlet so you don't blow a fuse or trip a breaker.
that scene was filmed at the viewpoint inn in oregon. if you email them at their website they might be able to tell you exactly how they did that. They had the set there forever and it was still se tup when i went there to check it out as a venue (super $$!) but i bet they could tell you exactly how it was done!
Okay, gals, I just pooped my pants because my wedding planner emailed me and said that she was building a gazebo and wanted to see if it was close to what I had envisioned. She f-ing sent me the picture of the gazebo from the Twilight movie! I cannot believe it! She said they are recreating it for another bride and that I will be able to use it too!!!!! I am seriously in the mood to do cartwheels right now!!!!!!!! We do hive hugs, but do we ever do hive high fives?
Someone hive high five me...aaaaaaand try to say "hive high five" out loud 5 times fast. Do it!
* HIVE HIGH FIVE *
I'm so thrilled for you! It's such an awesome feeling when all the stars seem to align for you ;)...that gazebo is going to be frakking goregous =)!! Be sure to post pictures of the completed thing!
That is great news about getting to use the gazebo! *HIVE HIGH FIVE* woo!!
Oh I will! It's going to be centered on this circular patio:
I'm so in love with the gazebo and the location! When you said you almost pooped your pants I laughed so hard for a second I snorted :) Congrats! We will need all the pics you can provide later on.
I have not yet seen Twilight (blasphemy, I know!) but this is BEAUTIFUL! I love it.
JennyBryde, I'm from the QC too! Congrats on the score! It's hard to make Deere Run better but you just might have with that!
That's awesome! I love the gazebo, and your location is amazing! I'm so jealous, that is exactly what I'm looking for in Southern Oregon.
Can I toot my horn a bit? We're getting married at The View Point Inn where they shot the film!! We were touring the site when they'd just finishing filming, and a lot of the props were still there. I hadn't even heard of the books at that point, but I've read them now!! Unfortunately we've fallen on hard times, and I've just found out that two out of three of my bridesmaids are going to be severely pregnant on our day and now can't make it, and are now having to move our September wedding into some time in 2010...
Awesome news, JennyBryde! It'll be GORGEOUS! Definitely mark your calendar to hit the after-Christmas sales for all of those twinkle lights that you're going to need.

We are having an outdoor reception, and we've decided we want to recreate the lighted gazebo pavillion thing from the ending scene of Twilight.

Any suggestions on tackling this project?
