This is super exciting! We're also currently working on our half bathroom! We have the wallpaper taken down, now we just need to pick out our fixtures. I think it has to wait until the weekend though, so I'm really jealous! Good luck with getting it done! So exciting!!!
@ 2peas - Yay! Isn't it fun? :) Hopefully we will both have newer bathrooms by this weekend!
@ alisha - :) The project isn't done yet, but I will show some photos (I'm at work right now, so I can't yet) of the before and after pics as soon as it is!
That's so exciting! Can't wait to see the photos when you finish!
How exciting! Please share pictures and ideas. I am buying a house with an old pink bathroom so that will be our first project.
How does it look so far?? I know it's only been like 12 hours, but a lot can get finished in one night!
We uncovered a little time capsule under our wallpaper. Apparently, it was wallpapered exactly 20 years ago when George Bush Sr. was prez. The guy wrote that gas prices were expensive (!) at $1.35-$1.50 per gallon, banks were failing and the Iraqi war was causing a recession.
I wonder how this guy feels now with gas prices being just under $3 per gallon and the recession we're in now! Crazy!
I so understand how excited you are!! Now that there's no more wedding to plan, I'm going crazy around the house with projects ideas... I'm making my husband crazy, too... I only got to do small projects so far, but it's soo cool! :)
I'd like to see before and after pics.
Aggghh!!!
I just remembered I had posted this and I came back to check and had a ton more replies asking for pics! LOL - ok cut me some slack ladies it's been a hectic past week! We pretty much finished the bathroom and I love it SO much. We drastically reduced our storage space though by taking out the cabinet sink & tri-fold medicine chest, so still in the process of finding somewhere to put all the excess bathroom stuff. For right now a lot of it is sitting in the spare room on the extra computer desk! AAAggghhh!! I can't stand having crap all over the place! Anywho, wouldn't you know I'm at work again and can't post the dang pics so I will make a mental note to actually post them this weekend. Promise!
So, I'm about to post pics of the new sink/mirror/light fixtures. The wood tri-fold medicine cabinet and the squarish light fixture above it was BEFORE the redo. The oval mirror, pedestal sink and super cute light fixture with seeded-glass covers is the remodeled verson :) Note: Unfortunately I don't have a good shot of the cabinet sink that we had in the bathroom before we replaced it with the pedestal.
BTW, that wood-looking wall cabinet is still up, because that's all that's left of our bathroom storage space, and until we get something to replace it with, it has to stay. I want a white one, but paint doesn't stick good to veneer (I think that's what it's called) so we can't just paint it.
This is the old mirror - Sorry these pics are so big! I don't know how to make them smaller.
This is mid-project. He had the new sink in and had to patch a huge hole that had been behind the old mirror/cabinet that someone had apparently just covered by putting the mirror there. We had to go buy sheet rock, putty and paint.
This is the finished product! :) I absolutely LOVE it. It really cleans up the bathroom and adds a lot more floor space! There are some white chips out of the tile wall behind the sink where the old sink used to be (apparently this bathroom has been remodled several times) so I'm going to have to cover over them with matching paint.
NOTE: THE VERY FIRST PICTURE IS THE CABINET THAT'S STILL IN THE BATHROOM. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BUT THE WORDING ENDED UP UNDER THE OTHER PICTURE.
Here are a couple more :) You can see in these pics that the mirror doesn't lay flat against the wall (it's not supposed to - that's what those prongs are for) so I can still get to the electrical outlet behind it. The mirror actually swivels up and down on those prongs! :) It's cool
We also got a new toilet seat cover, but I won't bore you all with that picture lol.
Yippie! My parents have that same mirror in one of their bathrooms, but in gold! they yell at me everytime I move it though! I don't know why... lol ;) Looks great.
@ Virginia & MissAsB - Thank you both :)
@ Virginia - I didn't even know they made it in gold. We wanted brushed nickle though because we really like that look :) and yes, it still kind of weirds me out to move the mirror lol. I'm always afraid I'm going to pull it off the wall, but I know that won't happen because the anchors are pretty strong.
Cute! both my bathrooms are already remodeled but i wish i could change the style every week lol...well just the first bathroom our bathroom is awesome : )
gorgeous! We've been checking out those Lowe's ads and sitting on a potential project. I'm inspired. (Our current mirror looks almost identical to your old one!)
@ 808 - Thanks! I've decided that Lowe's is my new favorite store :) Fixing up our bathroom only costed about $200 total (Mirror, sink, lighting & putty/sheet rock :)
@ amanda - Thanks! Our bathroom is really simple/small, and we have to work with the blue tile because it would be too much trouble to redo all the tile and we're not gonna live here forever. I think the pedestal sink and new mirror really clean it up nicely!
It looks great! I love the light fixture. Where did you get the mirror if you don't mind my asking??
The mirror is so pretty. You guys did an awesome job!

I just had to share because I'm super excited! :)
Hubby is working on it right now! We went to Lowe's on Sunday to pick out the stuff, but didn't buy anything then except the light fixture. He is off today so he went and bought the other stuff (sink, new mirror & faucets). I thought he was going to wait until this weekend to actually work on it (though I had a hunch he might start today) but I guess he was excited or curious or both because when I called him earlier he had our old sink torn out and was back at the hardware store getting something else he needed!
We have several home projects we are going to do this spring, and we have officially started on our first one today!
:D
