I've read that they play it up for the show. But who knows. You have to be somewhat crazy to want to be portrayed like that, you know?
I've thought about this, too! Maybe these people are just happy to see themselves on TV? ;)
But seriously??? Who are these men that put up with that??? I am shocked by some of that stuff - even if it is played up for the cameras. I think (like to think) my girlfriends can tell the dif between my general bitchy-ness and bridal freak-out stresses. Either way, no one is going to cater to me like that and FI would have been long gone! LOL I'm thankful to have friends and family that keep me in check when i start to freak.
I love this show! It's so unreal to me to see how over the top these ladies are. Everytime we watched it my FI would tell me how thankful he was that I wasn't like that... lol... I wonder if they're really like that or playing it up for the show...
I think you almost have to be a little bit crazy to want to be portrayed in such a negative light on national television! I guess some people want to have their five minutes of fame, no matter how they're portrayed. My FI can't watch that show, it puts his teeth on edge.
If it's true that they get some compensation, then I'm sure that makes it easier. (I know there was a post about this but I can't find it right now) But is $2500 bucks really worth acting like a crazy woman for the world to see? I'm going with "no" on that one.
I've wondered about this, too. I'm also curious to know if any of these couples have gotten divorced. But, I like watching the show because it makes me laugh and realize what I would look like if I had those same crazy reactions.
My understanding is that the Brides are re-enacting what they were like so I am sure it is a bit exaggerated. There was one groom that has his wedding band on in some scenes and then it was missing in others. I always tune in because it does make me laugh. I loved the family that got into a fist fight on the church steps during the rehearsal (last season, I think!)
it has to be played up, right? no one can really act that way towards their loved ones, right? i used to love watching it, but now i find myself getting sick watching it. who are these people?!?
Is it bad that I enjoy watching it because it reminds me that even when I do freak out a little, I'm still not as bad as those girls?
Ifugred that it was a little played up, or edited to make it look like the bride was being super crazy. (Ie. they just show her blowing up, without showing if the other person really did something wrong.) But I didn't know they re-enacted it. Biy! Are all those girls actresses too?
I do think they have to be somewhat carzy. I've seen wrap up episodes where they mention what the cople is up to now. It seems like plenty of them are unhappy or divorced. Gee....I wonder why.
yeah sometimes I see the groom smiling like he's in on a joke
there was that crazy bride who smashed a cake, what baker let's go of that if I were her I would have made her pay for it
I just don't understand how someone gets to adulthood acting like that without noticing. And actually gets ENGAGED acting like that!?
My friend worked as an editor on that show in the early seasons. I asked her the same question of course. Yes, they really are that crazy. But they specifically profile these women before hand - they are screening for people who are bossy and emotional.
I actually stop watching that show! I couldn't take how they were treating their family members, making their FMIL cry when she worked so hard on a card box! Awful, I feel bad for the people that have to put up with that crap!
FH cannot STAND the show!! I think it makes him twitch!
My old boss's bro in law was a groomsman on the show, and said it was all real- and she was REALLY THAT BAD. (it was the worst episode I had ever seen, too!)
Love that show. Only b/c it reminds me never to be crazy like that. No one likes watching it with me though. They all say it makes them "anxious". Hehe
So how do these men get engaged to these NUTS?! I mean seriously. Especially the scene with the CRAZY ARSE girl who berated her fmil. Who does that?!
@crebre80- in response to your question.... The one with my boss's BIL, the guy OPENLY ADMITTED on the show that when he bought her a pink sapphire ring for Christmas, she thought it was an engagement ring, and he just went along with it to avoid her WRATH. Like... OMG!!!!

I wonder if the Brides that are on We's Bridezilla show, realize how awful they are when they watch their show?
Do you think they are like that in real life? Do you think they exaggerate for the show? I really think they are all so awful, that i don't understand how they keep their friends, let alone their groom.
I don't want to watch, but I'm just waiting for someone to stand up to one of these monsters.
