My husband and I can't seem to figure out which name we like best so I thought I would run the names by you lovely ladies :-)

Possible middle names would be Grace, Ann or Mae.

Willa, although a strange name, was my great grandmother's name, so there's sentimental value there.  The only problem I have with it is that it's hard to enunciate.  People always think I'm saying "Willow" or "Wilma" instead.

Caroline is just a sweet name that we heard one time and fell in love with.

Madison is a name that I've always liked, and my husband likes as well.

ETA:  Our last name is pronounced "Bock"

Cute names! I think Madison Mae would be adorable. I also tend to like names that can be shortened so in this instance, Maddie or something like that would work.

    Love love love Caroline!

Madison is super popular, so I vote no, and Willa is cute, but I just like Caroline better.

I like Willa a lot. Madison seems super common right now and Caroline makes me think both of an old nun who taught my high school physics class and the Neil Diamond song.

I voted Caroline (I hear it as Cara- line, not Caro-lynn) (before I read your post) b/c Madison is so common in my area.  It's become trendy.  After finding out that Willa is a family name, I'd change my vote or at least hope that you use it.  My mother named my sister and I after our grandmothers and it means so much, even though my middle name is completely unheard of today.  I love discovering personality traits and strengths that I have in common with her.

I'm gonna go off the list and vote for Willow Grace.  I love the name Madison, but Madison Bock sounds like an injury attorney firm name to me.  Second choice for me is Caroline Ann (could be shortened to Carol Ann).

I would say no to Madison because it's too popular now. I have a super popular name (for my birth year) and I hate it! It's soo common and 5 girls in every class had my name. Now that I'm a professional it's hard to be taken seriously in emails because they can pinpoint my age from my name.

You can always echange the middle names like this:

    Madilyn Willa

    or

    Caroline Willa

@jjmomma:  I share a middle name with one of my grandmother's, and I feel the same way as you do.

@inspiredcreationsbyhaley:  I couldn't help but laugh at that.  Good point though.

@PinkMagnolia:  I completely understand.  I have the same problem with my name.  :-(

If you can't decide why not wait until your LO arrives and get to meet her first? My friend just did this with her daughter...Her and her husband could not decide between 5 different names. They finally picked a name the night before the left the hospital after spending a few days with their new addition.

For what it is worth, I like Caroline Willa the best! Good luck!

@pansyshell:  We've definitely thought about that.  The only reason I'm trying to figure it out now is so that I can get the name on the nursery wall and cross that project off my list - haha.  But there's a very good chance we might have to wait until we meet her.

I might wait until you meet her too. Or , do what some people have done in the past. As long as you both like those names, you pick the girl's final name, and he does the same if and when you have a  boy. Everyone's happy. :)

FWIW...I prefer Madison, even if it is popular. It sounds stronger/independent/less girly to me.

I like Willa!  It's pretty unique, and it has family history for you.  Madison is way too overdone these days.  Caroline is nice too... but Willa seems more special and unique.

Willa. Go for the family name. Plus, Willa Cather is one of my favorite authors (not that that matters, but... the name's got positive associations).

Caroline is going to be a very unusual name for this generation of babies. Madison is going to be like Amy or Melissa. Pretty common, but not Jennifer. Isabelle=Jennifer. lol.

Caroline was one of our names but we're having a boy! Love the name, also have a family connection to it.

and I LOVE Willa - it's different, simple and there's the sentimental value.. it's beautiful

maybe a combination Caroline Willa or Willa Caroline?

I like Caroline, with Grace as the middle name :) Madison is just too popular for my taste, and I currently live in Madison. So it's weird to me to hear someone's name being my current city.

Love Caroline!  I'm so over Madison - way too trendy and overdone.  Even with shortening it to Maddy, everyone and their brother names their child Maddy now.  That makes it a no for me.

Caroline is a great name - beautiful, normal, and not completely overdone right now.  Any of the middle names you like would go with it perfectly I think.

My vote - Go with the family name :) That's sooo SPECIAL and your little girl will hopefully appreciate the connection.

I've grown up knowing a Willa and I love it. Willa Mae is ADORABLE and very south. I like Willa Grace as well.

Eh just because a name is popular doesn't make it bad. Mine's Ashley, and I still love it! Popular names tend to be good names Cool. And for the people over Madison because it's trendy- you think Caroline is fresh and new? No, also super trendy, I know tons of little Carolines! That being said- Madison is on my short list for future girl's names! But, my bias aside- Willa Ann Boeck just fits for some reason. It has a great ring to it, and also has meaning for you!

Caroline, it can fit a child and an adult so you don't have to worry about someone viewing the name as too young or too mature, or even too trendy. The worst I've ever heard a Caroline being subjected to is the chorus of "Sweet Caroline", it's pretty hard to manipulate it to a disagreeable form.

My cousin's name is Willa, and I absolutely love it. At first I wasn't sure about it but I think it's a great name and suits a baby, child, and adult. Madison is way too popular (in my opinion) and Caroline doesn't stand out to me. I vote Willa!

To be honest, I don't like any of those names but here are my two cents on each of them:

I'm going to vote for Caroline even though I really don't like that name because I think it is the least bad of the 3. Caroline only if you promise to call her Callie for short. Callie is cute. Don't like Caroline itself. It's really dated and common or used to be common in the '80s or was it before that?

Willa sounds like willy to me........ so that's a no-go. What would you call a Willa for short? Everyone (mostly everyone) ends up with a nickname somehow.

And I really dislike Madison as it is so over-used and also masculine-sounding for a girl. Maddie is nice, though.

Voted Caroline because that's my daughter's middle name.  Obviously like it.  That being said, it was also my grandmother's middle name so I'm a fan of family names as well.  I like Willa.  Like others have said, I'd avoid Madison because of popularity but that's just me.
