This house buying/selling has been taxing on me. You can see some of my journey in the posts titled “We have 2 weeks to sell our house or we lose our new house” and then the update on selling our house.
So everything has turned out ok so far but there have been a few bumps thrown in our path. Like after selling our house and signing a new purchase agreement for the house we want, we went to the bank to get our loan (we were pre-approved before). After looking at our income, credit history etc they were concerned with why my Fiance was not working for a lot of last year. So we had to explain that his mother had passed away unexpectedly (at his surprise birthday party) and we had to take care of property, funeral, insurance etc, not to mention it was very traumatic for my Fiance and he took some mental health time off work. We then had to get his employer to write a letter that all this was accurrate. So then everything was fine…until we get to last years taxes. My Fiance claimed mileage on the last 3 years taxes. So the bank says “Well that’s an added $500/ month expense” So we said we’d ammend his taxes if we had to because we honestly don’t need to claim his mileage we just do so we can get more money each year at tax time. Finally we just adjusted our interest rate, repayment time etc and ended up saving ourselves $200/month in payments. UGH what a nightmare.
So now everything is fine, appraisals have been done, inspections have been done, loans are approved. We are in the middle of packing and I’m just so anxious to get into our new house. My birthday is April 29th, we close on April 30th.
I’m so tired of packing lol. I wish it was just done already, I don’t mind unpacking because its always fun to find places to put things when its a new house. I guess what’s hard is that we are still living in our house, so how do you pack stuff you are still using for the next 2 weeks? Maybe I just need to say enough and pack up ONLY the stuff I will use. Leave out like 7 days worth of clothes and pack up the rest. We’ve already packed up dishes and bought paper plates, plastic silverware and plastic cups.
Any advice on how to pack up while still living in the house and not go insane? We still have a lot to do and are running out of time.
