Mrs.Sawyertobe:  We went to DisneyWorld for the first half of our honeymoon and also stayed in Port Orleans French Quarter!  The grounds are lovely, but the pool area is most definitely geared towards kids.  There were lots of kids!!!  But having the river right there is really pretty, and the walking path that goes along it is the perfect length for a morning or evening stroll.  Here are a few things we learned:

-Take the boat over to Downtown Disney.  There is an awesome margarita stand over there!  Lots of shopping too, and a few cool bars.

-The Dining Plan gives you so much food!  I don’t know what level you have, but with ours we always were stuffed.  We generally didn’t eat the breakfast there- frankly it’s not that great at POFQ.  It looked better at the other PO.  We brought lots of protein bars and ate those for breakfast, then we’d snack when we got to the parks.  We had more than enough snack points.  Once or twice we even just ate snacks as lunch and saved those points for fancy dinners.

-Go to the nice restaurants!  They’re two points each, but if you save points from lunch you can make it work easily.  It’s so much food- my husband calls it “The Disney Circuit”- appetizer, main course, and dessert!  We liked Citricos at the Grand Floridean best, but if you wanted to go suuuuper fancy you could do Victoria and Alberts.  We also really liked Artist’s Point at The Wilderness Lodge.  We weren’t crazy about Jiko (at the animal kingdom hotel).  California Grill has an amazing view- I highly recommend going there just for that.  There wine list is quite extensive and they offer almost everything by the glass.  The food is solid, but the view is where they really shine.  Make reservations for everything though!  I don’t know when your trip is, but you can make reservations 180 in advance.  For some of the popular restaurants (like California Grill and the Beauty and the Beast castle) you will need to be really on top of it.

-Go to the spa at The Grand Floridian.  Massages feel amazing after walking around the parks for days!

Since we were heading to Mexico we didn’t focus as much on the romance of Disney, more on the fun and Dinsey-ness of it all.  I wish I had more suggestions for that!  But definitely go to the fancy restaurants!

Have a great trip!

We are doing a disney honeymoon at the Port Orleans Riverside. What time of the year are you going? We are going the second week of November. We will be doing a Fantasmic Dinner Party- where you can watch the fireworks with Dinner. Make sure you plan ahead for all of your reservations!!! They go very quickly! You can also look into watching the fireworks from a yacht! Ive never done this but I think this is a great idea for romantic! I hope you have a great time!!! I can’t wait for mine!
