After much stessing and waiting until we heard the heartbeat we finally told our families. We told my parents first. I gave them the Willow Tree figures and as soon as my Dad read the box that said “Grandfather” he looked at me with tears in his eyes and simply asked “Really?”. My Mom was confused what he was so tearful about until he told her to read the box. I have never seen her eyes get so wide. I didn’t expect her to cry but they were both balling. The last time I got a hug that big and emotional was on my wedding day! Then tuey kept joking they were too young to be grandparents. Lol. My mom has always joked that the only reason she had us was so she could have grandkids. It wad so perfect. Honestly everything I had hoped for. My poor sister was getting frustrated because nobody would tell her what was going on because we were all so wrapped up in the moment. When we finally told her she was squealing and jumping up and down. My Dad made me promise to tell him the second we had told everybody else so he could brag to the world on Facebook. Lol. And he did with the sweeteet post ever!
We had to wait to call his parents sincehs Dad wouldn’t be home yet so we called my Grandparents in Michigan. I asked my Grandpa how he felt about becoming a Great Grandpa. All he could do was repeat the question back and suddenly all I can hear is my Grandma screaming in the background. It was so funny because he was so excited and crying but kept saying he was too young to be a Great Grandpa. Like father like son. Lol. I knew they would be thrilled. My other Grandmother couldnt stop crying and by the time I got off the phone with her I already had texts from the entire family in Michigan. News travels fast in this family!
His parents were super excited but kinda expected it because of how sick I was while they were here during the holidays.
In the end, we were so nervous telling everybody wouldn’t be like we hoped. And really it wasn’t. It far exceeded it. I just HAD to share!
How did your family react? Was it what you expected?

Oh my gosh. Your story about your parents put tears in my eyes. How wonderful, special, and exciting this experience was for you all! Congrats girl!

Yay! I’m so excited to do that!

Aww, this post gives me the warm fuzzies!
We didn’t do anything special to announce to our families. DH wanted to tell them right away, so I let him do it and he just sort of awkwardly blurted it out, lol. Neither of our families were all that surprised. They were excited, but quietly so, if that makes sense. I think they’re all getting more obviously excited now that baby’s arrival is just a few months away and everything feels more real.

Oh my gosh, that’s so exciting. I love the way you told them.
I’m only 4w4d, very early but we told our parents. I am super close with my mom and I couldn’t keep it from her, but felt it wrong to keep it from my dad. My parents bawled. His parents were so excited, MIL was squealing LOL

@Lyndzo: Love it! I understand wanting to tell them so soon. It was KILLING me having to wait but Mr Hedgie wasnt ready and needed to see the ultrasound and hear the heartbeat before it was even real for him. So, right after the 8 week appt we called my parents and made plans to meet! I totally get not being able to hold it in though. Congrats!

@Mrs Hedgehog: DH is the same way, and I agree. I don’t want to hide it, but I want to make sure we do have something in there! We’re waiting til his bday, so it’s a little longer than I want, but fits.

@Mrs Hedgehog: my sweetie and I made cards (I shared a pic in one of your other threads) and my Moms reaction was the best!! I got my partner to discreetly video them opening it too from her phone, and I emailed it to my brother and his wife so they could laugh too. My mom was like, whaaaaaat? And then just kept staring at me wih her jaw on the floor.
I mailed the card to my Dad and step Mom and I guess it hasn’t arrived since no call yet. But yes, everyone is thrilled!
Glad it went so well for you!
