I posted earlier about how FI FINALLY decided to allow us to get a dog. The idea was that she was a foster dog, but I think I've fallen in love with her and we'll end up adopting.
She (Cookie) was supposed to be here weeks ago, but due to bad weather and such (she was coming from the States to Canada) it was delayed. But she arrived a couple days ago! She's the biggest cuddler EVER. Like...sprawled on my lap at all times.
And this is the look I get when I stop scratching her
Teehee! I love doggies :)
Mine ALWAYS does that when I'm on the computer and he wants attention.
What a sweet girl! I remember that look well from the dalmatian I had growing up. She was a leaner. As in she'd sit next to you on the couch, and slowly lean on you until you were shouldering her whole weight. And if you didn't start with the petting, you'd get The Look. The "I'm so adorable you need to drop everything and fawn over me" look.
I hate living in a no-pet building...I can't wait until DH and I can afford to buy a place so we can adopt some furbabies.
She's precious. FI won't let me foster until we're ready for another dog because he knows it'll be a foster failure. lol
Thanks guys!
@brittsnead23: It is :) We only had one pic before we met her, and I was worried she would have the stiff and short hair that other labs do...but she has more border collie hair (she's a lab/border cross).
@sdrury89: I think everyone knew I wouldn't give her up. Hahaha. Ooops...
Oh my gosh she looks so soft and fluffy and sweet! Yay for you!
Congratulations, she is so precious! My Gracie is a border collie/ retriever mix. They make such great dogs! And kudos to you and your FI for rescuing.
Good for you!!! Spoil that little doggie rotten...why was she in a foster home?

@tkvogel: I always ask her that. "You're so freaking cute, how come no one wanted you?" Her puppy was in the same shelter as well. :(
She does have a bad habit of jumping up to see what's on the counters/stove/table, which is a pain in the neck, but nothing a little training won't help.
Are you sure she's a Border/Lab mix or is that the best guess of the shelter? Cause she looks exactly like my in-law's dog who is a Flat Coat Retreiver.

@JeniRae:Um just about to say the exact same thing. My mom has raised, shown, and bred Flat-Coats since before I was born....that dog looks EXACTLY like a flat-coat.
I thought flat coated retriever as well! She looks a lot like one. She is BEAUTIFUL, how could you not keep her? :D
Which shelter did you get her from? I tried for so long to find one that would adopt to Canada!
AWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! congratulations! I'm so happy for you. I nag my fiancee daily about letting me adopt a dog!
@JeniRae: Her puppy was stated to be a flat-coat retriever (cross? I don't know). But we've been told she's a border/lab cross.
She came from a shelter in the States that was going to put them down. FI's aunt runs a dog shelter here, and was looking for foster homes. So I think FI's aunt told us whatever the shelter told her, as she didn't meet her until a couple minutes before she did. It's quite possible that you're correct
Also here's a picture of my Deuce-man that is a Flat-Coat for reference...his ears are not groomed here...please excuse the furriness!

@noopnoop: I'm not sure. FI's aunt had connections and had them brought up here by volunteers.
She's beautiful! Yay for foster dogs! Our dog is actually a flat coated retriever/chow mix, and he likes very similar! Yay for black furry dogs! Congratulations :)
Too cute! And is it sad if I can tell that is WB on your computer? And if it isn't, it is a great look-a-like!
@linguo42: I have a dalmatian that does that too :)
She is SOOO cute!!! I love her "give me attention" face :). Congrats on your new dog! Its so suprising how many amazing dogs that are at rescues/shelters for weeks or even months & they're actually the best dog in the entire world, you're surprised that they were there! I'm just getting into fostering dogs & my slight fear is that I will want to adopt the dogs I foster.
awwwww!!!!! I love your dog! <3
@PitBulLover: Ha thanks. Her puppie's name was Nugget. LOL. Someone must've been hungry when they named them.
Awww....so cute. Adopting is the best. My husband and I adopted our hound mix, and it's like the dogs know they have the best home and they're so grateful in their own way. Enjoy your new best friend!
What a sweet baby! My cat totally does the same thing with his head when I cease to pet in favor of typing.
