@Rouquine: I found that JCP has cheap towels. Will they last you years? No. But they lasted at least 1 year when I lived on my own with my ex and they did the job just fine. Especially if you can find a coupon. Super cheap.

We bought all of our towels from the family dollar. (I know!) haha But seriously, they have lasted!!!! Look the same as the day we bought them, over a year ago! No snags or anything at all. Congratulations on the apartment! πŸ™‚

@Rouquine: Congratulations!!!!

I get our towels at Wal-Mart–the Better Homes and Garden brand only.  They’re very nice and thick.  You’ve got a little time, so you might want to troll Craigslist for your furniture.  I got us a loveseat for $40 from a deploying marine who bought it new… he threw in an end table and lamp because he noticed me looking at them.

I was just at Kohl’s last week and noticed they had a ton of towels and other random bathroom and homegoods on sale. Everything seemed to be really decent quality-wise.

You may want to check out stores like Ross. They have good things to decorate (towels, shower curtains, etc). I’ve found some good towels at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Ross, and Burlington Coat Factory.

Bed Bath and Beyond has Duet towels for around 10 a piece, they are super fluffy and absorbent.

I love my Costco towels! I like the “jumbo” sized towels, which can be hard to find sometimes.

My SO got his towels at TJ Maxx on a whim.. super cheap and 2 years later, still fluffy and nice.  TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls also have furniture but… ehhhhh.  The deals aren’t as good on big pieces.  I was very surprised with K-Mart online, actually.  3 shelf bookshelf for $10 and my desk with rollout keyboard tray and side shelf was $17 plus shipping.  It’s all that fake wood stuff but it does the job and matches my room.  When we move in at the end of the year, we’ll bring my Kmart furniture until we can afford really nice stuff.
