these are great, and what a deal you got! i think they're really timeless looking, so i'm sure you'll still really love them later when it's time to send them out.
We used a big sale at Michael's as well and scored beautiful mustard yellow invites! You feel like you just got away with stealing them!
It's fantastic that you found invitations you love for such a great price!!
@dotdotdoodlebot: Haha I said that exact thing to FI as we left the store!
@simplifiedbride: Exactly! I know damask is really trendy right now (and seems to be kinda on its way out) but this looks more lacey to me than damask-y. Perfect for our "elegant garden party" wedding.
@Kant: Ohh, pretty! I love DIY wedding invitations!! I'm partial to them because we used them too! I'm still impressed with the invitations we printed!
Wow - Michaels has really up'd their invitations. Those are beautiful and will definitely fit right in with your wedding. What a great find, and bargin!
@BabyBoecksMom: Heh, all the "Michael's Brand" ones were still pretty bland-looking IMO. But they carry these Anna Griffin ~designer~ ones now and a whole bunch from Brides Magazine too that are really nice! I was pleasantly surprised.
Very pretty indeed. I'm glad there are a lot of brides DIYing invitations on their own.
Beautiful! Michael's was my second home during wedding planning. Sign up for their weekly emails and if you have an iphone/android, download their app for more in-store coupons!
Those are lovely!
We got a different style, but the same brand, at The Flower Factory. I think we spent around $30, as well.
We got something very similar from Michaels too (same brand/ package details, but in purple). The only thing I might change on ours is the ribbon, from ivory to a contrasting shade of purple, and perhaps adding a pocket-fold as well. The invites were on clearance marked down to $17.99, so we got 3 boxes,. We'll have extra to "test on" and play around with :)
We just didn't want to spend a lot on invitations/ save the dates, because we want our cost focus to be on photography and location, so this was very helpful for us! (btw we got our magnet save the dates from 123print.com, for a really good price with a coupon code).
I'm hoping these invites turn out ok (computer stuff is my FI's dept)!

I got an email from Michael's the other day advertising their weekly sale. I noticed that their Anna Griffin invite sets were on sale for $20 -- pretty much half off (they range from $40-$50 normally). So tonight FI and I went to look at them and we both fell in love with the black and cream damask ones, and bought two boxes (we need around 50 invites, and there are 30 in each box, so I figure we have a good 10 to mess up on :P).
In these boxes you get coordinating invites, RSVP cards, thank you cards, envelope seal stickers, and envelopes for everything, and you print them yourselves so they're still pretty customizable.
So they were originally $40 each, which would have been a total of $80. But they were on sale for $20 each, half off, so we got the lot for $40. And on top of that I had a 25% off coupon, which applied even to sale items, so we got the whole lot for $30! That's like 50¢/invite!! Saved $50, almost 70%.
I know it's way early for us to be thinking about invitations yet but this was a deal we just could not pass up, and we both really love these invites -- these are exactly what I have been trying to find online but couldn't find a damask print that I didn't hate.
Since we got these so dang cheap I think I may add a light green-colored pocketfold to this and include an info card that points to our website, wrap it up in a belly band, and use the provided envelopes as outer envelopes (as long as the pocketfold + belly band will fit inside the envelope -- I'll order a sample when I'm ready to do invites to make sure).
AAAH I'm so excited! Here are some (horrifically bad) pictures:
