Our wedding was a little bit over 3 weeks ago, and the day was so amazing that I couldn't even think about the stuff that went wrong until now. I was just lost in la la land. I can't believe that I forgot to tell you guys that we actually had a real wedding crasher at our wedding!

The reception started at 6:30, and my hubby and I arrived at around 7:05. When I walked in, I instantaneously noticed this random couple sitting at one of the tables. Even though we had over 200 people at the wedding, I knew every single person that was there. I had one of my cousins go over to them and ask them if they were with the bride or the groom.

Guess what? They couldn't even answer! They had already taken SOMEONE ELSE'S name card and escort card, helped themselves to two cocktails, and were about to enjoy a plate of food!

I was so shocked. Not really mad, just so amazed that people actually do that. They were escorted out by security.
Just thought i would share this random story with you!

Wow! I can't believe a couple would do that! A couple of guys doing it seems like it would totally happen, but an actual couple? I wonder if that's how they do date night? :/

Lol! Well DareDevil, you are just that awesome! Good thing they were busted before the food came out, but wow, who does that?! Did the couple who was supposed to be seated there ever show up?

@NDBee: yes! they were sitting on the third floor at the "overflow" table, because someone was at their spot! we kindly let them know what happened though, and they got to sit in their original seat.

now all i can do is laugh about it... people are crazy!

@MissDareDevil: I wonder how casual it was, or if they're 'engagement announcement readers' in the newspapers and plan their weekends out :-)

I just can't understand the mentality! How do they even find out where weddings are? Or choose which to go to? How do they ensure they don't take an important person's card? (like, it would be more obvious if they were sitting where the MOB was supposed to be rather than a cousin) Do they actually dance and mingle at weddings where they don't get found out? Do they get a kick out of signing the guest book etc? Or are they just not able to pay for a night out?

    So. many. questions!

Would loved to have asked them to stay so you could question them just for kicks. :P

@Tickles: One of my girlfriends crashed a wedding once. Apparently she called a fancy venue and acted like a flustered secretary who had lost an invitation for her boss. Whoever at the venue said, "oh you mean the (name-name) wedding?" and told her the time and dress code! She rolled into the cocktail hour just as it was ending when there were only a couple of escort cards left and made herself right at home. I don't know where some people get the guts... Wink

@Miss Scarlet: That makes a little more sense. Single girl, wedding, guys to hit on...(still not right though). But a couple?!

I would have had the DJ spotlight them and ask them to lead the toast. If they got flustered I'd start chanting "Speech, speech, speech, speech!"

Oh goodness.  My husband wants to wedding crash in a few weeks.  We’re staying in a hotel the night before his younger sister’s college graduation which has a lot of reviews stating that the only complaint is noisy wedding guests.  Apparently it usually has 1 or 2 weddings going on any given Friday or Saturday night. Not like eat their food, drink their alcohol, but like mingle and dance to Twist and Shout kind of crash according to him. No way am I letting him though.

Apparently before we met and he traveled often for work he used to do this a lot. He’d get dressed up go down to the hotel bar after dinner service was over and chat up the available females until one of them would drag him on to the dance floor. I guess when you’re 20 and stuck for 2 weeks in a Dayton hotel by yourself, you get desperate for something to do.

@Rachface24: At least he doesn't take someone's place and eat the food! I can understand an available young male stalking weddings for girls to dance with.

I can't believe that happened to you! But, I must admit that I tried crashing a wedding myself back in my young and dumb days. A girlfriend and I had just seen the movie when we went to a wine expo at a local hotel. After a few drinks we noticed that a wedding was going on in another room. Needless to say, we walked in. We were not trying to eat their food/drink their drinks...we just wanted to dance. During one of the dances the whole family crowded around the bride and groom and we were right in the mix...people started to whisper, so we bounced. Back then it was just fun and games...but I would kill ANYONE who did that at my wedding, lol. Talk about a double standard:)

    Thank goodness I grew up...
