wow! that's quite a list! haha =) My wish is on May 18/19 =) it seems like the best date out of the list! haha =) Have fun!!
@M.Ruder: Hey that's not a bad idea :) lol the list is so I remember why I decided the date was bad...lol
If you have kids that are invited or anyone in the school system, June may be better because people will be out of school. Same goes for college aged people. Also, I feel like June is getting hot but isnt excruciating at that point.
@PitBulLover: This is VERY true! I completely forgot about children. Fortunately for us, all the kids are going to be elementary-school-aged. I believe all our friends graduated from college...(I think lol). Lucky for us, Living in WI we don't have to worry about super hot summers :) Thank you!
Your year looks pretty open. I'd avoid Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day in WI, because people generally have annual plans.
Don't worry about "too close to halloween" unless you're having the wedding in downtown Madison...
I'd just start looking at venues and churches, compare their availability, and then pick a date. At least here in CA, you're not getting a discount for off-season in any month except January and maybe February.
Are any of your close friends or family getting married next year? You may want to add that to your "calendar" as well. :) (When my FI and I put together our calendar, we ended up with a four-month window that wouldn't step on toes... And of those four months, we only had two weekends where we could get the church and the venue... And I'd rather have my preferred venue than my preferred date. But thats up to you!)
Good luck~
I'm having my wedding on October 13, 2012. Good date. ;)
ETA: I did the same as you though. I went through every month and listed every occasion, event, birthday, graduation, etc. People looked at me like I was nuts.
And Mr.TKE just ruled out December...lol :) and my BFF just said May...hmm
I'm a May girl. The weather is warming up but not too hot. The flowers are in bloom. Prices are still low. :) What's not to love? My one thing was we loved loved loved the venue and it was unavailable the 26th but the 19th is after my birthday and who would want an anniversary the day after their birthday? Turns out we waited and got the 26th but than we found out the 27th is 10% off because it is a Sunday. Sold. We'll take it.
I voted for July. If you get married at the end of June of very beginning of July (like the 1st, so that family can still do their own 4th of july thing or what-have-you), there will be fireworks on your honeymoon (and around subsequent anniversaries). I think that would be a neat addition to the celebration. :)
What about August? It looks pretty open, although I noticed there's an x by the 25th...
@pink.sequins: August isn't a bad idea...the X means there's no bad dates for Aug yet. My only problem is how hot it is in August.
We got married in March (aka 3 weeks ago haha), and while the date was a sentimental date for us, we also found that our prices were super low. Also, everyone is open, both vendors and guests. I mean, what happens in March? Well... except for March Madness... but whatever.
I loved that we had the pick of any vendor we wanted, prices were lower, and most people were able to come. It's also more of a unique time of year to get married!
We chose labor day! We have lots of OOT guests and wanted it to be easier/more care free to travel. I polled some family before setting the date and they all loved the idea. For most people I know, Labor Day weekend isn't highly celebrated here and most people aren't busy so that's why we made our choice. We want to be able to spend the sunday with our guests as well (my parents are planning to throw a bbq). Hopefully it works out well for us! My FMIL is thrilled not to have to take any time off work as well haha.
I voted April 28 because that's my date and I want a date twin! lol
I vote Sept 22....cause that's my date and we can be date twins! Sept is also a beautiful month and the 22nd is the first day of fall in 2012!
This list is completely confusing for me. I think any month will be fine as long as you don't do it on a major holiday. Things like St. Patty's Day and Father's Day aren't that big of a deal IMO. But it could be different in your family.
@basketballwifetobe: ...and @ILuvDance17: lol you guys rock :) I love the reason! haha
@kperry3: it is a bit confusing...but it makes sense in my mind...lol that's scary isn't it? ahahaha
I think you are completely over thinking this. Pick any date you want because you can never please everyone. With that being said I chose March because that's my month.
@Hobokenbride2012: unfortunately it is my thing to be overanalytical....but good choice :)
@thisismeAXiD: Haha yea :) I was just trying to figure it out so I could give you the best advice... then gave up cause I didn't understand it :) As long as you know, that's all that matters!
How much longer do you want to wait until you get married? THAT is that question. If you want a short engagement then set a date that is sooner. I am sure its easy to find a date once you have a ball park of how soon you want it to happen. Basically, my view is that there is no need to drag it out... you probably don't need more than 6-7 months to plan a wedding so set it to 6-7 months from today. You can't please everybody so if people want to come to your wedding they will try, there are always a few who can't come, no matter what date you pick.
@sovix: Haha...I had to laugh soooooooooooo hard...Mr.TKE and I have been engaged since Feb. 8, 2008!!! I went on a temporary hiatus from WB until I was ready to set a date... :)
