From the beginning my FI and I have had our sleeves rolled to the elbows with our wedding process. We have tried our hardest to hit key notes within our day to really express ourselves throughout the ceremony and reception but what about the little thing we will be wearing everyday afterwards?
Our rings!
We have always wanted to make our own and through the help of Wedding Ring Workshop and our great friend Alba, we were able to make this happen!
We took a trip down HWY 101 and hit up Berkeley CA, the buzz of this place makes you feel energized!
We began with slivers of the metal of our choice- palladium and white gold was our choice- next we focused our design wants and began forging each other’s rings!
First we began with the metal pieces- I was making FI's ring and he was making mine :)

Then we melted down the metal and poured it
Our ring babies!

After shaping- obviously my FI fingers are not mutations we just had a little too much material for him!
After soldering :) the rings begin to take shape
Labor of love
our final design encompassed a hammered look and with the last three "dings" i said "I. Love. You."
Our rings!

The process is amazing and feels so primitive and intense! You watch the metal turn to molten soup and from there work, work and rework it. It took us five hours to complete each other's rings, and I will never forget this. It took teamwork and bravery not to mention trust! I have never seen my FI so attentive to detail! We had a total blast and would reccomend this to anyone who isn't timid- I didn't breathe while pouring the metal I was so nervous!- I realize this def is not for everyone but for any of you who think it might be worth the try- DO IT! from the price to the experience its well worth it!
Do you have any Wedding Ring Workshop stories? What piece of your wedding did you DIY?
Wow. How neat is that. I had never heard of a wedding ring workshop before. They turned out beautifully!
That is such a neat idea! And the rings turned out beautifully!
That is so cool! I wonder if htey have anything like around me! I didn't even know you could do that! AWESOME and Romantic!
That is so cool!! I wonder if Memphis has a place that lets you do that.
That is such a great idea! Your rings turned out beautiful!
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen. And also one of the most romantic.
I love your rings!!

This is the main website- Our nearest workshop was 5 hours away and we made the trip- so worth it-
The entire experience is romantic and positive. The help we had from Alba- a metal worker and jewlery designer- was above excellent. She made us feel comfortable and kept the energy flowing through the process...
I have never done much with metal work so no experience is needed- just trust in your skills and in your partner and the helper should guide you! I'm so proud of our rings- we went straight to the car and played pretend "hubs and wife" for a bit- and to see my guy be that excited to wear a piece a jewlery was more than moving- he had tears in his eyes with the final product... all in all we are super proud of this step and can always feel the other with us with our rings- forever!
another perk is the the experience incudes pictures- where the designer ca snap a few as well :)- lunch and a bottle of champagne once the work is completed! Cheers!
I used to make jewelry too! I only had some experience with casting though, I thought it was too scary. But I LOVE the process of shaping and soldering metal.
(edit-- I see you didn't do thist at home.) but anyway, you are so lucky that you have access to a jewelry lab!
holy crap that is AWESOME!!!! Do you mind my asking what an experience like that cost?
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! That's so special that your rings were made by each other!!
pinkshoes :They base the price on the cost of your metal of choice, so it fluctuates. But based on the ring shopping I had already done, I think what we got was, essentially, personally-designed rings at fair prices, and a fun, romantic, amazing day to boot.
That's so awesome! What a great experience for you two, and so personal. Love it!
