Kissimmee and St. Cloud are okay, St. Cloud is better, IMO. The traffic in these areas is bad, IMO.
I would look at the neighborhoods of Lake Nona, Avon Park, and Harmony, personally! HTH!
@kwynn: +1 to this!
St. Cloud & Kissimmee aren't the best, I grew up in that area. I went to school in that area as well. If you're looking for better schooling and just neighborhoods in general, Dr. Phillips, Lake Nona, Harmony, West Palm Beach- much better! Good luck :)
@LissaBabyxo: I was looking at rental houses on line and saw a few in that "Dr. Phillips" neighborhood you talked about. I think FI's company is by the airport, I just want something thats not super far away. I dont think I want to live right in Orlando though.
I have family in Ocoee, Oviedo, Kissimmee, and St. Cloud. I guess that is why I was looking in those areas. However, its not necessary to live IN those citys just a starting point of where to look.
@misskarianne: The Orlando airport right? That's pretty close to St.Cloud/ Kissimmee. If you were wanting to live around there i'd look in St. Cloud. Check in neighborhoods like Lake Gentry, Cypress reserve & out by the manor. It's not as crowded and it's close either high school. Hope that helps!
ETA: Cypress Preserve, not Reserve.. my bad!
Lake Nona is close to the airport. I think it can take some time to get to Kissimmee from the airport due to traffic.
honestly with all the highways and stuff all entertwined.. it makes me soooo nervous about traffic and getting where I need to be anyway. I told FI that he's going to have to get me a GPS for my car so I dont get lost every time I leave the house!
I keep seeing stuff for Clermont and Davenport too, but I think those might be too far?
I live in Ovideo, but if the job is near the airport Lake Nona is great! There isn't a whole lot out there right now, but it's growing. I have a friend that lives out there and I love love it.
I lived in SC for 20 years and it has definitely grown over the past 10 years or so...I live in Palm Bay now (further east and south) and love the area we live! For SC, I would stick with 2 areas...Harmony or Narcoosee. Harmony has had a huge drop in housing costs so you can get a really nice home out there right now at a fraction of the costs they were 3 or 4 years ago. They have several rentals too. Harmony is like a community within itself. There is a Charter School there and a High School. They have their own private lake, clubhouse, etc. VERY nice but still affordable. Narcoossee is on Hwy 15 which takes you from SC to Orlando (right by the airport). It used to be not such a great area but here are several really nice subdivisions out there now in addition to a Charter School. They are currently changing it from a 2-lane road to 4-lanes...I think most of it is completed. That will help a LOT with the traffic issues. If you have specific questions, please feel free to PM me. Good Luck!!!
SC is the "local" abbreviation for St Cloud...not South Carolina. Sorry. If you look at a local paper or craigslist ad, that is what you will see typically. :-)
@helenc32: hahah at first when I read SC I was like why is she writing about South Carolina here?!? HA!! I had to re-read most of it. LOL Thank you for all of the information!! It's very helpful! If I think of any more specific questions I will definitely PM you! =)

FI is going to be working for a company out of Orlando,FL once he gets his CDL license. Most of my family lives in the Orlando area, so instead of me staying here in Louisiana, we talked about moving there!
Honestly, part of me is very excited because I only have 1 family member that lives here in LA, and they are an hour away from me. So I would actually be back into the whole celebrating holidays and birthdays and everything because 4 of my uncles and their families live over in FL, and my grandpa too. Plus everyone visits there because of that group of the family who is there.
The other part of me loves Louisiana though. I just moved here a year and a half ago. I feel like I haven't had the chance to really see and experience everything! Is that weird?
I think we would move to St. Cloud or Kissimmee. I don't really know much about any of the cities except for which ones my family lives in. I will probably ask them their thoughts when the time comes closer.
I just wanted to share with someone. I can't tell my family yet cause they will get too excited and I dont want to disappoint them if it doesn't happen.
Any central Florida bees have any suggestions on where good areas to live are? (right down to like subdivision names?) We would eventually be starting a family too, so it would have to have a good school district as well.
