Beautiful ring! Hopefully you don’t have to wait too long to wear it!

Hozzelbear:  Hi. I am new to this board too. I just recently picked out a ring with my boyfriend and we bought it. However we were so excited the first day, I sort of just wore it and told a few people and now I feel like I ruined it for myself. He is still planning to pop the question soon, but I can’t help but feel a little strange that I already know it is going to happen. I am glad ther is someone else who picked out their ring with their partner also. It is beautiful  by the way.

We did the same thing… we had our wedding booked before we had got engaged…

We knew we wanted to get married and we knew the date we wanted so we booked it… i then had to wait an agonising 3 months for him to actually ask me to be his wife and give me a ring

I was my own worst enemy any special occasion or trip i was thinking he would do it… he was planning with my mum what would be best – and then id speculate to my mum when i thought he would do it and unbeknown to myself i was guessing all the plans he had thought up!

Evenutally he gave up trying to plan the big proposal as he was convinced i’d know and on a random sunday evening as we were discussing what to have to eat he just asked me out the blue! Safe to say that suprised me a hell of a lot more than anything he could of planned!!

Congratulations! Very beautiful ring!

I don’t think you’re odd at all, because I am in pretty much the same situation! Date is set, ceremony venue and officiant booked, honeymoon planned, etc, but no ring on my finger yet!

SewHolly:  Not nearly as soon as you. We’re getting married May 10th,  2015. It’s a planned elopement. It won’t be a secret. We are sending “forget the date! We’re eloping!” Announcements a couple of months before

SewHolly:  We plan to do the same (with some twists).  We are eloping to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, which is an island off the coast of Cancun, very beautiful and relaxing.  We will have our ceremony on the sand at sunset, go straight to a private, romantic dinner for two on the beach surrounded by lanterns, then enjoy our honeymoon.  We will also be having photos done around the island, and on the mainland in the cenotes (underwater caves) as a trash-the-dress shoot.  When we return home, we are having a small sit-down dinner for our families (not many as our extended families live out of town and cannot afford to travel to our hometown), and after that, renting one of those double-decker site-seeing buses which we will take bar-hopping throughout San Diego with our closest friends (fiance wants to plan all sorts of drinking games and fun activities for this).  Four months after our wedding, we plan to travel to England to have a blessing in my family church (a tiny, ancient little place) which my extended family can attend.  I love that modern weddings are finally breaking from some of the outdated traditions and expectations.  This celebration just feels like “us,” ya know?  Your elopement idea sounds very exciting!  NYC is such a bustling, energetic city, and how wonderful to begin your journey as husband and wife by having a true adventure!
