We coildn’t let her go on suffering anymore. The vet agreed, our 12 yr old Fenja’s kidneys had ceased to function. Her body was full of poison, she was nearly comatose. She couldn’t walk anymore.
That said, she could still weakly wag her tail at us. She couldn’t hold herself upright, even if we helped her.
We knew we couldn’t make her suffer until Thursday, so we spent Christmas Eve morning at the vet’s saying good bye to the nicest dog you could ever hope to meet, our Fenja vom Bosen Bruderblick, BH, 2001-2013.
She was deeply loved & is very missed.
Thanks for listening, Bees. I know many of you have been through it with your cherished pets.

That stinks 🙁 The same thing happened to my childhood dog and I can remember it quite vividly. You did the right thing! I remember her looking at me and I really feel like she was saying thank you.

I’m so sorry for your loss, especially at this time of year. I’m so sad for you, but you made the right decision – she’s not suffering anymore and I’m sure she’s wagging her tail vigorously from doggy heaven. Would love to see pics of your beautiful pup!

I’m so sorry. We lost our girl last year & it still breaks my heart sometimes. As cliche as it sounds, I don’t feel like she’s gone. She’s still with me all the time in spirit. Hopefully you have some festive distractiomd over the coming days. You made the right decision, & the sadness will get better I promise. You should definitely post some pictures if you’re feeling up to it!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad the day before my birthday (years ago) and even though it was devastating, it does make me feel closer to him on that day in ways that are sometimes comforting.

She was a happy dog, always smiling and laughing. She had a happy temperament and she was amazingly resiliant.
