In my opinion you would probably get a better deal on Blue Nile. I worked in a jewelry store a couple years ago and we couldn’t even get close to the prices Blue Nile had for their stones/jewelry.  The advantage to getting your diamond from an actual store is the fact you can see it in person before you purchase, but I do believe Blue Nile has a good return policy also.

Good luck!

Yeah, you could get a better price at Blue Nile, but you also won’t be able to see the diamond or the setting in person first.

I’d go for it.. it’s a gorgeous ring, you had a good experience, etc.

My e-ring is from Shane Co, and I love them. I know a lot of time chain stores get a bad rap, but I love being able to pop in to get a cleaning/a prong checked/whatever, no questions asked. Plus their upgrade policy is awesome (if you upgrade your stone, at any time, ever, you get the full value of what you paid as credit towards a new stone, no other strings attached). Plus, service is SUPER fast – if it’s something small (a prong needing tightened) they do it while you wait, and if it’s anything bigger, it only takes two days. TWO!

FI loved working with them, as well. The no-pressure sales tactic made him really comfortable.

We actually just bought my wedding band from there on Thursday night, and it was ready to be picked up Saturday morning. I’m going to go pick it up Monday and drop my e-ring off to be re-plated, which will also only take two days (I would have done it when we bought my band, but we got our e-pics taken on Friday so I needed it).

That setting was my second choice – it’s so pretty. There’s a matching band that I almost got for my wedding band but I opted for my ring’s matching band – FI promised to get me the twisty one as a future anniversary present.

Obligatory ring pictures – first is my ring with my band, the second is my ring with your matching band 🙂

Shane co was Amazing with me even though I bought my Shane co ring second hand. Theyre trade up program is awesome when u buy a diamomd thru them & when you want to upgrade your stone they put the full amount toward your upgrade stone. They are wonderful to deal with and don’t pressure you. Their prices are also wayyyyy lower than most jewelry stores and they are pretty respected. i compared my Gia cert stone from Shane cos specs with blue Nile and the price difference was only about $200 and for $200 extra for the peace of mind knowing what my diamomd looks like is totally worth if to me! I highly recommend going through them my setting from them is really unique and I haven’t seen anyone with one like it. omg if you can’t tell I just really love Shane co lol and this is coming from a girl that was ready to give up on jewelry stores and their crazy markups and purchase my diamomd from bluenile. I am def buying my wedding band from them!

@ohmariemarie:  14k – 14k is usually what is recommended for rings versus 18k, since the higher the karat, the softer the gold. I didn’t like how heavy the platinum was, and (maybe I’m just crazy) the platinum seemed more metallic to me. The white gold seemed softer. Like I said, I might be crazy, but I just liked the look of the WG better.

@ohmariemarie:  I’ve had my 18k white gold ring for over A year now and haven’t had a problem with it. No scratches or anything

@ohmariemarie:  it’s what the designer used. My fiancé picked out the 18k. Mine is mixed with palladium and not nickel though, so I dont know if that makes a difference
