I picked out my future engagement ring today 🙂
Me and my boyfriend of just over 2 years went to several jewellers in town, I never expected to come home with pictures of ‘the one’ ring though!
I loved it as soon as I put it on, it as diamonds in the band but it’s not scratchy at all. I did try on another ring which was slightly more sparkly but it was so scratchy on my middle and little finger, I have dermatitis on my hands so I can’t have any irritation.
My boyfriend was asking the salesman so many questions about the cut and clarity of the diamonds, it’s all made me so excited !
I might not have my ring until next summer as my boyfriend has a thing about not wanting to be engaged for more than a year, and I’d like to get married in summer 2016 at the earliest. (I’m only 22 and I’ve just discovered festivals, hehe).
He said he might surprise me though!
Do you think it was a good plan to look at rings together? xxx

i was glad my boyfriend took me to look because what i thought i wanted and what i actually wanted when i tried them on wasn’t the same. I had always thought I wanted diamonds on the band… until i tried on a solitaire.

Im really happy for you, picking a ring is such a big deal as its something you will have to look at every day. I thought i wanted a halo ring until i tried on a trilogy ring and loved the way it looked. Ive been looking for about a month now and think ive finally picked one out, i could have gone bigger and sparklier but i loved it! Just hav to wait for my bf to propose now tho we’ve been together 12 years this time so im feeling a bit impatient! He wants to pay it off over the nxt few months rather than take out a loan which is sensible i guess. I dont know how you ladies cope knowing the ring is acc there n just waiting for it! I think i have become slightly obsessed with engagement rings lol 🙂

Robotbot: We had gone to browse during our second year too. I’m glad I did. I originally wanted him to pick it out. But I put a ring on and ended up falling in love with it! We were both glad, I ended up getting what I wanted and he was glad for not having the stress of “picking the right one.”

I’ll say ‘yes’, but I’m biased because that’s what we did. Picking together means not risking a “darling, I love you, but I hate this” situation. I’m not fashionable, but I have my own style, there was no way he was picking it out alone 😉

I think most people these days look at rings with their SO even if its just looking at rings online. My Fiance absolutely wanted my input because he’s not the best at picking out jewelry. My actual ring was a surprise because I never tried it on or saw pictures of it. We had gone to several stores, and I showed him styles I liked, which were all very similar. He ended up getting me a ring that has elements of the rings I showed him wrapped up in one ring.

We went ring shopping the other day, but the closest diamonds direct that had the brand I wanted didn’t have any of the rings that i was hoping to look at. Glad that you found the one.

Very fun!!! Ring shopping is so exciting- you can try on a lot of different types and decide what you want!!

I def wanted input I to my ring and my tastes changed after I tried on a few things and saw how they looked in person on my hand. So yes it’s great that you went. You will also still be surprised since you are waiting a while to get engaged!
I think it’s super smart of you to wait a few years to get married since you are still so young, but just because you get married does not mean you have to stop living your life! Fiance and I go to music festivals all the time together (I also go to ones with my gfs) and we will after we are married as well! I’m older than you (27) so don’t feel the need to go crazy and do drugs (I’m assuming that’s your hehe – also be careful seriously) there anymore but we still have a blast.

Thank for all your replies everyone, we went back to the shop again today as I saw another ring online that I liked. I tried it on but nope! I still love my favourite ring the best 🙂
I said ‘I guess I better give this back then…’ xD
I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up but we’re going on holiday in late August/early September, and I hope he’ll propose.
In the meantime I’m going to join the SIU pact and focus on my upcoming festival, and try to keep up with my ongoing college course.
Oh and keep the house sparkling clean! That should use up a large bit of my spare time
