    Hello Hive!

In regards to wearing a strapless dress as a bridesmaid (although I'm sure this may also apply to any brides out there), I was hoping to get away with not wearing a bra. In the most horrific case that it will start sliding down (if you know what I mean), if I don't plan to wear a bra or get stick-on padding, do you think that double-sided tape would work?

Or should I just suck it up and spend money to get a bustier? I have tried strapless bras too but they start to slide downwards. (eek!)

    Thank you in advance!

If a strapless bra is sliding down then it's too loose.  Go down a band size and try again.  Likewise, if your dress (whether you're wearing a bra or not), it's too big and should be taken in.

check out www.hollywoodfashiontape.com.  It might be a better option than double sided tape!  Unfortunately I have not tried it so I can't vouch for its effectiveness, but it's something you might try.  Good luck!

Don't waste your money on a bustier. If you have breasts that could hypothetically get away with going without a bra, then get chicken cutlet things or wear a regular strapless bra--- Trust me, in the event of slippage, you don't want your lovelies to be shared with the entire party & if you catch a breeze and/or get cold, no one wants to see your headlights!

Yes... imagine what might happen if you reach up to catch that bouquet - you and your girls might be forever captured on film!

I'd recommend going with a regular strapless bra.  Also, re: hollywood fashion tape - everyone I've talked to raves about it.

i've tried the hollywood fashion tape, with a strapless dress and bra that were a little too big and i didn't realize it till it was too late... the tape worked fairly well, my only problem was it was difficult to apply it to myself - you might need some help. my issue was i had problems pulling the dress up and not letting it stick till it was in the right spot... that could just be me, though. :)

target sells that stuff, in the underwear section, in all different forms. :)

why don't you get cups sewn into your dress? it's cheaper than most bustiers i've seen.

victoria's secret makes an amazing strapless bra that doesn't slide down (from my own personal experience - i wear it all the time). it has a lining of soft plastic that holds it in place.

the angels secret embrace strapless bra by victoria's secre, found here:

just make sure the band is tight enough for a snug fit! it's super comfortable, too.

I used petals under my wedding gown, which was taffeta in material but it held up.  My girls wore a jersey knit dress that showed everything...but they used petals as well and it held up all night...just be careful with double sided tape.  There's some that state you shouldn't have it on for more than 6 hours...so unless you plan on "re-taping" yourself during the night, just be sure you don't get any allergic reactions.

If strapless bras don't work for you, you can wear some nipple covers. I like the Nippits, they won't let your nipples show through. You can check it out: http://www.laurensilva.com/NiPPits_Nipple_Covers_p/nippits.htm

How about adhesive bras? I haven't tried one, but they may work for your dress.

Or try going to an old school bra store where they can fit you properly - you might find that you just never had the right size before! I had a friend who was wearing a 34A but once properly fitted found she was a 32C!  She is much happier now.....
