I actually like the way shimmery make-up photographs (professionally).
And your make-up looks GORGEOUS in your e-pics. I think with a little powder you will be good to go!
Uh...whatever you did in your e-session looks amazing. I would stick to that.
All of the eye shadows my makeup artist used on me were shimmery and it doesn't look shimmery at all in my pro photos. I thought it turned out beautifully!
Shimmery makeup looks fine in photos. In your pic you posted, you don't look shiny at all, and your makeup looks very minimal as though you aren't wearing anything, shimmery or not. Makeup artists have a preset idea of they believe a bride should look like and don't want anyone to stray from that image, even if it doesn't fit what the individual who is wearing it wants or even looks good in. Wear whatever looks best on you and you will photograph beautifully no matter what. Don't let any "experts" scare you into something that you don't want or that looks blah on you.
The engagement photo does look amazing, but keep in mind that the problems with shimmery makeup come up most when a flash is used. It doesn't look like any flash was used for that photo, or not very much anyway. I got my makeup done at MAC, too. Only one eyeshadow had a little shimmer and everything else was pretty matte. I asked my photog about it and he asked that I not use shimmery makeup.

Several months ago, I got my makeup done at the MAC counter and bought almost all of it to DIY my wedding makeup. I wore it pretty much exactly how the makeup artist at the counter did it for my engagement pictures, which I think turned out well:
Looking at how my face looks with a critical eye, I was a little shiny, but I wasn't wearing powder. At the wedding, I'll have powder on and I'll also keep blotting papers with me. Also, I think I will wear more lipstick with just a touch of gloss, as I think my lips look a little too glossy. Otherwise, I am pretty happy with how my makeup photographed!
However, today when I was getting a facial, the esthetician (who also does wedding makeup) advised that I not wear any shimmery makeup, even eye shadow, because it photographs too shiny. I googled her advice and sure enough, most everything I could find says you should wear matte makeup.
My wedding day makeup includes a shimmery eyeshadow that I am blending with matte contour and highlight shadows. My bronzer also has some shimmer to it, though not a ton.
So what do you think? Should I replace my shimmery makeup with matte, or will I be okay? Important to note: some of what I've read said that you need to be worried about flash, but I don't think our photographer will be using a flash for our daytime wedding, unless its a "fill flash" because it is bright, and that is not a direct flash like evening photography.
