I don’t really have any advice other than maybe try sleeping without underwear? You can sleep with PJ pants, but that would maybe give that area a chance to breath. I hope you feel better soon! Definitely sounds really frustrating. Maybe see a specialist?

kimbim:  I have never experienced anything like this before- but try some biotic cilver/colloidal silver on the area.  Continue using whatever the DR gave you as well.

I have never experienced this but considering that it’s right on your underwear line, have your tried different underwear? Perhaps a different cut or material? Ones that don’t have tight elastic? Maybe try sleeping without underwear.

Could you try wearing a style of underwear that doesn’t have elastic cutting into the problem area? I have some boy short underwear that I wear for exercise that dont cut across the groin. If it is a fungal infection, keep the area dry and let air circulate and apply the medication twice a day

kimbim:  Do you shave? Maybe you just have super sensitive skin around that area

I second the other PP suggestions about going without underwear, or maybe try seamless boy shorts ( the kind for yoga)

I would maybe try witch hazel too- it could be your skin is now reacting to the anti fungal…

kimbim:  Definitely try to not wear underwear to bed.  It may really help.  also try maybe wearing looser underwear, like a PP said, boy shorts may help.  And it could be the type of underwear you’re wearing.  What kind of underwear do you wear?  Cotton could be much better.

If it is a fungal infection, Melaleuca (high-quality tea tree oil) and witchhazel might help. You can put the two on a cotton ball and swab the area a couple of times a day. Let it dry, then apply a 100% vitamin E oil to soothe the area. I have crazy skin and have dealt with all kinds of rashes and irritations, so this is what I would do! Maybe try a different cut of underwear, like PPs suggested, until it clears up.  Is the area dry/flaky? Did any of the doctors take a sample of the area to test for fungus? In my experience, doctors are rarely helpful with stuff like this, even dermatologists. Good luck, OP, I hope you get some relief soon.

kimbim:  Could it just be a contact allergy? Try wearing underwear that doesn’t cut across that area and wash them with fragrance/dye free detergent.

Did you change laundry detergents recently?  I wonder if it could be some weird reaction to whatever detergent you’re using, which would be on all of your underwear.

Throw out all your underware.  Every last piece.  Sanatize your laundry basket with bleech, clean your drawer and run your washer on clean cycle atleast a couple of time.

Also as other said, try a dye-free, irratant free soap and wash your underware by itself in the hottest watter possible.

You should also wash your pants/pj’s/sheets and towels after every use in the hottest water possible.

After that replace all your underware again when the infection is cleared.  This fungus is obvously growing on something, and you need to get to the root or it will reoccur.

Yeah I would throw them all out and make sure to just wear cotton until this has cleared.

kimbim:  here’s a funny story that is related to your situation.  i was in college when this happened.  my entire life my mother told me not to sleep with underwear.  i need time to air out.  i was home from college and went to sleep with this pleather thong i was wearing that day. i thought the gods were punishing me.  i woke up the next morning thinking my underwear strangled me. i had a lump in my bikini line, i could barely sit.   for 3 days i was too embarrassed to tell my mother until the pain got so excrutiating.  she took me to the ER.  i had what they called a bartholins (sp) cyst.  they drained it, told me to soak it, etc.  i was fine.

about a year later, i got it again and went to the gyn. it had shrunk a little by the time my appointment came but she said once you have one, you are prone to get them again.

since then, i get one every 1-2 years.  i soak in warm water untll they shrink.

hope this helps.
