I am now a devotee of Bing Travel because it checks airline websites, Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, Vayama…it is an amazing aggregator.

Bing and Kayak allow you to sign up for fare alerts, they’ll email you daily or weekly with the best prices. Bing (formerly FareCast) is the site that gives you a projection to “Buy Now” or “Wait” for the best price. Both find similar prices and have about the same search features though.

I always use Kayak and select the options of checking Priceline and Vayama.

sidestep is a good search engine.  And yapta will track it before and after you bought it to let you know if a better price comes out.
