weddin' time in three days ... no music!

posted 5 months ago in Beehive

Hey, hive!

Our wedding's in three days and I've had no luck finding a ceremony musician!  My fiance originally wanted a single violin player, but we've struck out for months trying to find one.

So my question is - does anybody have any suggestions for DIY music for an outdoor ceremony that don't involve big, ugly speakers mounted next to our heads?  That's exactly the thing we were trying to avoid when we chose to do the ceremony outdoors.

*insert panic here*

I sent you a private message--

but to sum up what I said- look into a local musician like a music major or music teachers in the area. Anything: guitar player, flutist, violinist. Maybe the colleges nearby can recommend someone.

Any music major has a repretoire they can whip out at a moments notice for some quick cash. Or go to a music center (music store) and see if they have a list of people (instructors) you can call for a last minute "get me out of my rut" call. most musicianists will understand (I am one)- and most have an idea of who else to call through their own lil network of buddies, even accompanists or a lil woodwind/string quartet! I used to get together with my friends for the fun of it to play woood wind quarter or string quartet. It's a requirement for musicians to play in those ensembles.

But I would look into music majors, because they practice all the time and would be in the "best shape" to really play something in a moments notice- outside of a professional that is. (but the music majors are more affordable)

I went to a wedding where there was a speaker the harpist used. It was an outdoor wedding. Maybe she (the musician) thought the tune wouldn't be well heard.  But no one noticed the speaker... If that makes you feel better.

don't panic.     :o(       There is still some hope!

I agree with the others on here that you should look into a music student.  Call your local community college's music dept.  Also if worst comes to work get yourself a wireless speaker set (Sharper Image sells some that are made for outdoor/indoor use).  Also get yourself a Ipod remote control... create a playlist on your IPOD... if you need help w/music selections check Itunes they have complete playlists...

Good Luck!!!
