It's really nice! I was thinking of ordering through them too, but my mom didn't trust the material. She was scared that the material would be too stiff and not breathable so we went to a fabric shop and picked out fabric. WAY MORE expensive let me tell ya! I cannot believe how much it cost. My profit margins are gone now!! Sigh. Just for fabric too. I haven't gotten it made yet!
pikachu2818: I was pretty lucky because I had already planned a trip to VN and was able to pick mine up! The material is a sheer organza on the outside "jacket" and the actual ao dai is a halter top ao dai. I live in TX and it's super hot. Are you going to have the khan dong also? I also had all the bridesmaids' ao dai made for $25 bucks each (but not from aodaivinh)!!!
oh , that is very pretty! it's similar to mine except that i'm paying $600!
and i'm so jealous your girls' ao dai's are only $25 each. mine are $150 each. ![]()
ours are pink too! wish i had a chance to go to vietnam before the wedding!!
the site is great for inspiration though. i remember going through the site for dresses and i saved the one you chose too. didn't know it was a halter style, but i can see why it would be with the sheer sleeves. it's a super cute style! :) GREAT deal!
bride: they ship to the US. The majority of their customers are international. wow... $600! I bet it's super pretty!!!!!
miss sophie-- any idea on how much their shipping costs are? i don't want to spend too much on my ao dai, especially since i won't be wearing it for more than a couple of hours!
LUCKY!! I can't afford bridesmaids ao dai at this rate. they're just wearing their BM dresses all day. I'm getting an ao dai, jacket, and hat too. My hat is already done. I'll get fitted in august or something for the ao dai. TX in the house!! i'm getting mine made in Houston and wedding in dallas!
briannie: the shipping costs depends on destination and weight. For the US I would add about $60.00. If you live in CA, I think there are places for a cheaper Ao Dai. Maybe you can email them for a quote?
pikachu2818: WoOOT WoOOT! Helllllllllllooo fellow Texan!
Wow I was totally gonna buy that ao dai too. Nice to know that its a halter. I couldn't tell from the picture on their website. I ended up getting my ao dai fabric from this indian store. Get this... 7 yards for 65 bucks. its like a light pink that fades into a darker! exactly what I was going for. The vietnamese fabric store that I went to the the purchase of the ao dai pants told me I can literally make 2-3 ao dais with that amount of fabric and I'd still have enuff to make a hat out of it! If you guys are from southern cali lemme know I can give you guys directions to "little india" in Cerritos or the Viet Fabric store on Bolsa, Wesminter. My parents are gonna go back to Vietnam in September so I'm giving my mom the fabric. They know a lady back there that makes pretty ao dais. Might cost like 10-20 bucks. AWESUM price.
yeah my bridesmaids ao dai were that much!!! $10 labor. I will post those when i get a chance!
Hi I have a wedding coming up in June of 2009. I'm planning waaay ahead b/c i'll be relocating within this year. Anyway, I'm looking for some gold color wedding ao dai. I looked at ao dai vinh.com website and aodaiminhthu.com (this one is not working). Any other suggestions? Or even pictures of really nice wedding ao dai? Thanks!
Hi all
:
I am sympathizing to all griefs that you have been through with the ao dai order situation. When I first see the ao dai online deal, I feel so happy and relieved with the money amount that it is posted. However, I am still skeptical, so I call a childhood friend in VN and asks her to order a dress there herself as if she is me. Then, my friend gets the ao dai for me & send it to US herself. I get many compliments wearing the ao dai since the works have been great, especially the maker has never met me & only make it from my measurements. So, I recommend the website to my girlfriend (who happens to make her wedding in rush that year). Unfortunately, my girlfriend has no relatives/friends in VN to do the orderings & deliveries. We plan everything online with the representative from WWW.AODAIVINH.COM . We get all worried when the ao dai have not come since the wedding is about 2wks away. My gf has to pay extra shippings for them to ship express internationally. Then, when we receive the ao dai, these dresses are far worse from what my own dress looks before since the craftmanships are done in haste & not very professional. Flowers fall off the dresses as we look at them. The materials are cheap & hard. Considering my friend has to pay over $200 to make all dresses, I feel so bad & would have been more careful before recommending this place to her. Luckily, she only needs to wear the gown for 1hr during the home ceremony & changes into her white gown for church so geee... never again would I recommend anybody to deal with WWW.AODAIVINH.COM over the internet. They know that people oversea/faraway need a good deal & would not able to return the products so they think that they can cheat and nobody can come after them. So I say, stick with the deal we have where we live, probably our best chance to have what we really want. If we really want to deal with unprofessionalists, we need a backer to deal with them. Good lucks & I hope my post will help those looking for a good ao dai deal in the future.
I ordered my wedding from aodaivinh and didn't have any problems with it. i actually liked it better than the ones that were custom made here (in San Jose, CA) for 1/4 the price. Of course, for the price I paid, I didn't expect perfection... but when it came, it fit like a glove (and came a week early). The custom measurements can be cumbersome but so worth it in the end.
I've read from a few sites that people sometimes don't get what they paid for. It's a risk when you're paying before you see the actual product. Luckily, my in-laws always have family going back and forth from Vietnam which could be a good option for me. Ao Dai's in California are also pretty cheap, as well.
HELP! My family is Polish and German but my fiance is Vietnamese. We will be incorporating Vietnamese customs in our wedding. I know that my Ao Dai needs to be red - but other than that I am not sure. Where do I order from, what should I look for to prevent being scammed or overcharged, how far in advance of my wedding should I order, and any other helpful/useful information. His parents are deceased and the rest of his family lives in Vietnam. Thank you ladies!
If you live in Southern California or know anyone that lives in OC, you can easily purchase an Ao Dai for under $100 in the city of Westminister. Along Bolsa and between Brookhurst street and Magnolia are many Vietnamese fabric stores and dressmaker.
Also, you can rent Ao Dai for the day, somewhere between $50-$100 to rent.
However, if you are interested in have yours custom-made, the price will run a higher between 150-250. The nice thing about being to customize is that you can choose a fabric and design more to your liking. I have noticed that the quality in fabric varies greatly and is associated with the price.
Good luck to all the bees who are in search of an Ao Dai.
aodaivinh.com is a hit or miss.. i'd be very careful ordering from them. it's not the best quality and even though you send the measurements it may "fit" but won't "sit" right on you. my sister bought a few and i noticed the less than stellar quality. =(
@paper: Im very agree with Paper, that's very true, I bought 2 aodai from Vinh, that's true ,its very bad quality, totally different from the picture that the show us.
Totally fedup after received it. Even if you have any problem, oh well, all they will says that, Sorry customer, next time, we'll be do better for you (IF anyone dare to order from them again afterward???)
So in the end, when my Big day coming, me and my fiancee are agreed to order my Ao Dai from ThaiNguyen in CA, very expensive, it's cost $1000, but totally worth, very beautiful.
I ordered a wedding set from aodaivinh.com. Here is my review and pictures if you want to see: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/do-not-order-ao-dai-dress-from-aodaivinhcom?replies=8#post-2870921

I was curious as to how much everyone was paying for their Wedding Ao Dai?
I paid $95 for my ao dai at Ao Dai Vinh and I absolutely love the style. It's not your traditional Dragon and Phoenix (which has a lot of symbolism in Vietnamese weddings).
