We are having an indoor ceremony in April. The place has a very industrial, but chic feel to it… and I feel like we need something around us during the ceremony. I love chuppahs, arches, and arbors, but many seem to be pretty expensive. Since we will be moving after the wedding I can’t justify buying an arbor for a garden that we may not have for several years.
I have been searching around for cheaper DIY options, but I get frustrated with not being able to find 7 foot curly willow, or wondering if I am actually capable of pulling something off.
Did anyone else DIY their own arch, or anything else that they used for a pretty background.
Thank you all!

We’re planning on doing something like this:

There are so many cost effective ways to create a simple yet unique and amazing alter.
It cost us around $70 to create this arch for our garden wedding including buying the arch itself and the materials.
Some other ideas are the use of recycled materials, which will go well with your industrial feel but complimenting the chic theme.
A BOOKCASE that can showcase some of your favourite memories, quotes or florals and can be used again in your home to hold your wedding keepsakes
A DRESSING TABLE
or a simple AILSE RUNNER that showcases your love story and journey to where you are standing today
The possibilites are really endless. I suggest looking at antique stores and second hand stores to find something that suits your tastes.

@GoldStar: Did you want something that is also industrial chic or are you going for a different look? I checked your previous posts and only saw a reference to blue flowers so have no idea what you want for decor.
I have a feeling it’s not industrial chic, or you wouldn’t have mentioned curly willow.
If industrial chic is what you are going for, you could make an arch/chuppah of plumber’s pipe like this 4 poster bed
You could leave it open, or top with something like a silver mesh or even window screen.
You could also hang a crystal beaded curtain at the back.
Tell us more about what feel you are looking for so we can focus our ideas.

@julies1949: Good point. If I can think of one word that describes us it is eclectic. A bit modern, a bit vintage, and the wedding is in the spring so we will have some nice spring flowers.
For centerpieces we are thinking candles, lanterns, and mixed bottles with small bunches and singular flowers in them. Kind of like this.
Nothing too fussy, but still nice.
I have been thinking this color scheme:
But, I am not 100% set on it, but I do like it.
I guess, I’m not a huge fan of matchy-matchy. Not really sure if this helped at all… but thank you so, so much for your time in helping me brainstorm.

@miss-stacie-2013: Your arch was very pretty! Hmm… I really like the quote idea. Maybe you’re right, maybe I should search around our local antique stores and whatnot to find something instead of just fixating on an idea and not being able to make it manifest.

@wisher558: We’re doing something similar! Kind of like this:
With sheer grey curtains and then strips of knotted tulle behind it, both on ropes.

Something like this shouldn’t be hard to create and looks like it would fit with your industrial venue
