My dad is coming to visit this weekend, and I’m not expecting it, but how great would it be if like your family, he just whips out a check to contribute?

Awww how awesome! Congrats!

My grandma is paying for (most) of our honeymoon, because I was telling her that we were considering not going on one. She was so upset that we would consider not going, so she sent a check in the mail to us too 🙂

I was complaining about how expensive weddings were to my mom and I was getting so fustrated, she said, forget the price, pick anything you want and I’ll pay.  I’m not really holding her to it and still don’t know how this will play out since we never discussed it since, but I woudln’t be surprise if she does pay for it when the time comes.

@pinkshoes: wow!! I did that same thing and my mom just agreed with me, haha. Lucky!

@ohheavenlyday: haha, my other grandparents have wayyy more money than my mom’s mom (the one who sent the check), and they haven’t offered a DIME!

Thats a nope for me either. I mean my parents and his parents contributed the same amount and knew that was coming…but nothing “unexpected” came up and we did everything else on our own 🙂

Lucky ducks.

Nothing here. We’re doing it ourselves. OH but the bank did give us a small loan…so that was unexpected.

My parents paid for their own wedding, so pretty much as long as I can remember my dad has told me that he wouldn’t be paying for mine. I was pretty surprised when he offered to ‘help out’. I wasn’t sure what his idea of helping meant (and honestly, I was thinking he’d end up giving me a check for $500), so when I asked he said he’d pay for our ceremony and reception venue (which includes food and alcohol). It’s a good 60% of our budget, so it was a VERY pleasant surprise.
