I think the Distillery District is a lovely backdrop for a wedding.

We were considering doing our ceremony there and we were told that we’d have I get a permit to take photos outside – just something to be aware of if you weren’t yet.

Also to consider: it’s a very popular spot for weddings, and often there are at least 2-3 brides walking around with their wedding parties and photographers when we go on Summer weekends – some people are totally ok with that, others would prefer to be the only bride around and not have to share their special day space/the spotlight – if that won’t bother you, then all good.

Congratulations!

I’m booked in for the venue for next April and trying to figure out how much decor I really need. I wanted to keep it simple since the tables were small and it looks like we are going with the max capacity.  Thinking colours will be pale pink, purple & grey but still subject to change.  I went to the Wedding show last weekend and every vendor I spoke with gave huge praise to the venue so started to get a little excited.  I was thinking to maybe hang pomadours / balls from the ceiling to jazz it up a little but I think the venue really speaks for itself.  Where are you having your ceremony?

@sensuna – Are you having the ceremony at Archeo as well? We are doing our ceremony at Arta Gallery which is in the Distillery.  We are looking at doing our pics before, ceremony at 5 and then over to Archeo for 6.  Something around these timelines…Have you decided on colours? flowers for centrepieces?

Hi!!

Congrats everyone! I LOVE the distillery and were in the process of looking for venues for our 2014 wedding. I visited the Arta gallery today AND fell in LOVE.

Originally we were looking at the archeo and fermenting cellar (i still have an apt for the archeo this week coming up) but i think they may be too over our budget.

We are now thinking of hosting both ceremony and reception at the arta.

I was trying to google reviews of the arta gallery but havent been able to find many.

Were having a cocktail party like reception.

I love the archeo. You dont even need linens cause the wood speaks for itself. Maybe nice vases or flowers etc would be cool.

@SanzWalla:  Hi,  Yes we are having both ceremony and reception at Archeo.  Im hoping to have the ceremony on their patio and the reception inside.  We are having a cocktail style reception.  Im thinking of having the ceremony start at 5:30 or 6 – trying to work on the timeline with the open bar and DJ.

@semsuna – sorry realized you answered on this board that you are doing Cocktail style reception.  I would love to do cocktail style but that’s won’t fly with the European expectations!!!

@Maria444 – I’m kind of lucky! My side in non-traditional and I think his older brother broke the mold for their family and I will be considered the good daughter-in-law!  I looked at the paper chinese lanters but torn also between the paper puff balls (i saw them in a floral shop hanging and they looked so pretty). Where are you getting the lanterns from?  I haven’t asked about the crew cost or if its necessary yet but i’m sure it will be coming up.

Since I have a while still, I’m not that far into planning the table numbers or flowers. For flowers I was looking at smaller arrangements but I love hydrangeas, gerber daisys or simple roses.

I think we will be staying at the distillery unless we decide to go to Evergreen Brick Works prior for more greenery shots (or somewhere near by with greenery).

Hi Maria444,

I got married last February at the Distillery District. I had my ceremony at Arta Gallery and my Reception at Archeo. The staff was AMAZING!!!! I had such a wonderful experience with my event coordinator as well. Food was amazing, had a sit down dinner. It was well worth it. Archeo was very accomodating, from the time the Reception started until the very end.

As for decor, I had a florist who did my centrepieces and as for the rest, I did them myself. Less is better in this place. It has so much beauty, you don’t need much of decor. All of my guest loved the place and complimented me on the decor. And as for my pictures, I took them at the Distillery District. They came out beautiful. Great place for pics, everyone who’s seen my wedding photos, loved them! And it’s timeless. Also, I didn’t need to pay for a permit for photos as I was having my reception at Archeo. So you shouldn’t either, speak to your coordinator in  regards to that.

If you need help with ideas for decor for the place, let me know. I’ll be more than happy to help. I’ve planned and did decors for many different events.

Wishing you all the best and Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
