- Wedding: October 2013
I am so excited to share my new jewelry with all of you! My wedding band journey took a while. I had some “requirements”, haha. First of all, I wanted something fairly simple. My e-ring is unique, and I didn’t want the band to upstage it.
Also, I have a little… quirk. (confession time) I like things to be even. Symmetrical. This is true both in my personality (I see both sides to pretty much every argument- probably missed my calling as a lawyer) and my style (though I have seen many women rock the one shoulder, or asymmetrical hem look, it DRIVES ME CRAZY on myself). I had a friend in college who was into astrology who says that this is all because I am a Libra. That could be true. Or I’m a little OCD. Or a combination. (any other bees out there have this same quirk??)
So it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that I am a two band bride. I tried on many single bands in my search, and the look just didn’t do it for me. My brain kept screaming “It has to be the same on both sides!” this did not make my budget happy, but it was a good thing I was looking for something simple. One of the very first things a jeweler showed me was two shiny plain white gold bands. I LOVED the look, but it was a little too simple. I wanted at least a little sparkle. I came to the realization that I may need something custom. Finally, we went into a Shaws and everything fell into place.
*side note- I have nothing but good things to say about them. The woman who helped us was great, the prices were fairly reasonable- for custom!- and it was fast. I know it’s a chain, so customer service probably changes store to store, but our experience was great!*
after describing what I wanted, and talking for a while, the woman drew up a picture of exactly what I had imagined in my head- but better! I had to let them have my beloved e-ring for a while, so they could match things up, but in the end it was sooooo worth it. Ok, I’ll stop talking. Here they are!
first, my e-ring by itself:
now with the bands:
see how they lined the diamonds in the bands with the ones on the rings? perfect for my symetry loving brain.
sorry for the gigantic pictures and the glare. i’m not much of a photographer.
I am sooooo happy with these bands! and since an “anniversary band” is not in my future, we were thinking about adding a few more diamonds to these bands on a special anniversary.
any other two band brides out there? show me yours!
