I would go with the thinner band. I also feel it's too wide. Maybe wear your mother's band as a right hand ring instead :-)
I love the idea that you are going to wear your mothers wedding band, but I think MidnightSun is right. Perhaps it would be better to wear it on your right hand. It still keeps her close and honors her, but you have a band on your left hand that is more suitable with your e-ring.
Think of the wedding band that matches your e-ring as a new foundation for your new family with you and your FH, while at the same time remembering your mother with her band on your right hand.
Beautiful E-ring, btw! :)
I think your mother's band is a stand alone piece of jewelry. A diamond band would be lovely but you don't necessarily need a diamond band. I think what is most important is that you need a thinner band, plain, milgrain or diamond.
I like the sentiment of wearing your Mom's ring, but I think the diamond band would look better. Or at least a thinner band.
i dont think you have to go with a diamond band, but i would stick with a knife edge if i were you. heres a plain one
and a diamond one

I like the idea of a thinner diamond or plain band. I agree with PPs that your mother's band would make a lovely RHR.
Can you do both? Your mothers band would be awesome to wear alone for days you don't want to wear diamonds!
I love the sentiment of wearing your mom's ring, but I really think you need a smaller band - it doesn't even need to be diamond, just something thinner than your mom's ring.
I agree that you need a thinner band. Wearing your Mom's ring as a RHR or when you don't feel like wearing your e-ring/wedding band are good ways to incorporate your Mom's ring into your daily wear.
I love the idea of your mother's wedding band but I would opt for a thinner one.
i agree with most of the ladies, go for the thinner band. it will compliment your e-ring so much more! by the way, your e-ring is GORGEOUS.
Like others already said, I think it's a nice sentiment to wear your mother's band, but I think it is too wide to go with your engagement ring. I would wear your mother's band on your other hand and get a thinner band to go with your e-ring.
Thanks you ladies! You have made up my mind!! Diamond band it is!
Best Wishes!!
