I think they totally work together, and your mom must have had a premonition about what your engagement ring would look like because they look like they were made for each other.

@heatherkristin: I think they work, and you now have your “something old”. the band is quite beautiful.

Please don’t get me wrong because I think it looks beautiful but I think it would “match” better if your wedding band had the same shape and style as your E-ring. I can’t tell if the side stones are round or princess etc. but if they were the same shape and claw set (I think they are in your E-ring) instead of channel set I think it would match a lot more.

That being said…no other ring will have the sentimental value that the ring you have now has because your mom gave it to you. That is really reason enough to look past the whole matchy thing. And I love the idea of you being able to use it as your something old too!

If I’m being honest then I would say it isn’t a “perfect” match… However, I love the symbolism of it and the story behind it and although they are slightly different in style, they definitely don’t clash in any way so I would go for it! It can be quite nice to have slight differences between the e-ring and wedding band I think because it makes you look more obviously married and the two rings stand out in different ways.

I think they look great, and nobody will ever stare at your rings long enough to notice whether the prongs match or not – just the wedding obsessed on an internet forum 😉

Rings do not need to match to look well together!

Sometimes totally matching looks odd, I love the almost-matching look of these two together!

I wouldn’t say they’re a perfect match (looks like round stones in the e-ring and square ones in the band), but I’d say they’re definitely close enough to make a go of it if you’re happy to wear that one.
