I was always told that you wear your wedding band first because that way it is closer to your heart and then your engagement ring. Meaning your wedding band is at the base of your hand and your engagement ring is on the side closer to your nail.
Now i dont know if this is a rule or not but I have been seeing pics and have been gawking at peoples ands on the train and noticed that a few women wear it opposite. So the engagement ring is at the base of your hand and your wedding band is closer to your nail.
Is there a difference? Does it mean anything different? Is it just preference?

i think it’s just a preference. i’ve never heard that wearing the engagement ring first means something or has a certain significance. some ladies prefer to wear the engagement ring first simply because they received it first, so it makes more sense to them to wear the rings in order.
i’ve always worn my wedding band first. it looks weird to me to have my engagement ring first because i’m so used to seeing them the other way around.

I wear mine with the wedding band first. However, I have a good friend who wears hers opposite – I asked her about it once and she said it’s b/c her engagement ring is too big but her wedding band fits, so basically it keeps the engagement ring on her. Not saying that’s why anyone else may be doing it, just one reason
