I’ve been wearing my rings (it’s early, but we’ve got a house, two cat, two dogs and just waiting on the cermony! ). Any way, my question is which “order” do you wear your ering and band? I prefer my ering looser and first. Then my band thats more fitted, as a “stopper”. I think that’s reversed, my mom said something in passing about it. Is there a reason that the band goes on first?

Traditionally the wedding band goes on first.

You can completely wear it however you prefer, but traditionally it’s the wedding band first because it’s supposed to be closer to your heart. Others would argue that the engagement came first, so that should be closer to the heart and the wedding came second, as should the wedding ring. I personally wear mine wedding band and then engagement ring on top of it.

you can wear them however you want- it’s not like the wedding ring police are going to throw you in jail. but the reason the wedding bad is supposed to go first is so that it will be closer to your heart. i wear my wedding band first. i’ve gotten so used to seeing it that way that it looks weird to me to have them the other way around.

Thanks ladies! I guess that makes sense, since isn’t the ring finger the strongest vein to the heart, or something like that. Also when I was a little girl, I thought tha the ering was the smaller band and you got the “big rock” on your wedding day! haha

go.reizei: That is the custom in some countries and I think it makes way more sense that way! I think the wedding ring is more important because marriage is more important than engagement, so the wedding ring goes closer to your heart. Also I think most married women wear their wedding band alone at least sometimes but they never wear the engagement ring alone, so the wedding band is first because it’s the one you don’t take off.

I see the idea of wearing the wedding band first but I think you can do whatever makes you comfortable and happiest in the end!

traditionally I’ve always seen it where the wedding band is first then the rock on top. But, I knew a woman who wore her wedding band on top of her ering to prevent it from getting pulled off. Since my ering is sized a bit loose now, I may do that in the winter. It looks off to me but I’d rather not lose my ering pulling gloves on and off all winter long.
