My FI and I looked at wedding bands yesterday. He picked his out in an instant (simple, flat, 8mm, tungsten band) but when it was my turn to look, I just felt completely lost.
I have a three-stone ring (blue diamond in the middle and a white diamond on each side) in white gold and nothing sits flush next to it. I know that any sort of gap would really bother me, so I'd love to find something that sits snug up against my ring.
The jeweler we talked to was incredibly helpful and showed us, among others, a gorgeous, dainty ring with diamonds (almost like a half-eternity ring without any edges, if that makes sense). We're most likely going to purchase it because it comes with a "dip" in it that should fit snug against my ring. While I think I really like it, it was too large for my finger to really get a good idea of what it will look like... That's where you ladies come in!
3-stone ladies- What kind of band did you pick? Why did you pick it? Please post pictures!
Here's mine. We had a really hard time finding a wedding band to go with my e-ring. We finally found this one and I really like it.
I knew I didn't want a plain band but all the ones we found, the diamonds went down the sides too far and didn't fit with the 3 diamonds.
@Sunshine23: That's gorgeous. I love that the diamonds on the band just go as far as the diamonds on your e-ring. Really beautiful.
Thanks! I hope you can find something that fits with your e-ring. We actually got the wedding band at a different store than the e-ring.
@Sunshine23: You're welcome! And thank you too. :) We're also getting our wedding bands from a different jeweler than my FI got my e-ring from, he bought the e-ring online. We found a really great deal on Overstock.com for my FI's band, but I think I'd feel more comfortable getting my ring from a local jeweler, even if we have to spend a tiny bit more. Something about being able to pick it out in person seems safer to me...however my FI doesn't mind one bit that his is going to be purchased online (most likely because it's 1/2 the price the jeweler quoted us)! Haha
You can see mine here

@Tswife4ever: Pretty! Do you have any pics of them on your finger? The prongs on your e-ring look a lot like mine. Does your band fit next to it or is there a gap?
I'm going through the same issue with my three stone. I think I'm going to go with a band that has a bend in the center. That seems to look the best. The straight bands look ok if they are low on the finger. But I personally prefer the "bent" bands.
This is also the exact problem that I am having...I dont like the contoured look with my princess cut stones...it just looks odd. I might just have to suck it up and get a custom fit one made....
@Ms.Teddy: If you do, please post pics!!! I love looking at custom work, and it might give me some ideas!
@menobride: I'm thinking I'll most liekly be going the way of the bent band as well. It seems to look like it would fit well, I just can't be 100% sure because when I placed my ring against it, the size difference was so large that it looked odd. The jeweler did say that it should fit flush against it...it just makes me nervous not knowing until I buy it, get it sized, and all that jazz. When you get yours, post pics please!
Aw, why are there always the gap-haters? ;-P
Personally, I think a gap between the two rings looks better than not. I want my e-ring to have like a little "donut" at the base of the stone, so that it will actually create a gap. I think I like it because it makes it more obvious that it's TWO rings, not just one. I just think it makes you look more "married." :) Did you try a straight band on to see if it would look right to you?
Anyway, if you want some inspiration pics, there's bound to be lots in this thread with both the ring and wedding band:
http://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/3-stone-ring-girls-are-you-out-there-t75486.html
It's a thread from a Pricescope (a diamond forum) devoted to three-stone rings. Hope that helps!
Here's mine!
I don't have a pic of mine on yet, but got an all around eternity band to match the same cut of diamond on my e ring.
Hooray for 3 stones! Love them! Oh yea...my DH wanted a yellow gold ring. ??? But he did and wears it, so that's all that counts.
I do! Mine is just a standard channel set band, with 1/4 carat of princess cut diamonds.
@littlemissmango: It isn't that I hate the gap on other ladies, in fact I didn't even notice it until I started looking for myself! I just know that it would bug the crap out of me. I did try on a straight band, but I didn't like it at all. It looked too clunky on my small fingers (I wear a size 4.25 ring). I really wanted to like it though, it would have made it so much easier! Haha Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
@bellenga: Ooo, beautiful rings! I can't wait to see the pictures of the rings on your finger. Your band is sort of like the one I was looking at yesterday. Also, I agree with the others, that really is a beautiful bouquet!
@Lindsay12.31.2010: So sparkly! I looked at a band like yours, but it just looked weird next to my e-ring. Maybe it's because the center stone isn't a white diamond like yours? Ugh! What a dilemma!
I had the same problem. The first band we bought to go with my engagement ring had a gap and the stones came further down than on my engagement ring, which I hated. We had it for several weeks and I only took it out to look at it once. I told Jim I just wasn't happy with it and showed him why, so we went back to the jeweler where we bought it. We exchanged it for a wrap which has a bit of a curve on both sides so it hugs my ering like it was made for it. The stones on the wrap don't come down quite as far as the stones on my ering, but it doesn't bother me because it looks symmetrical.
I went with a style almost identical to the Memoire precious prong. Like this:

But...love this look too where there is a bit more space between the diamonds.

I didn't go w/the memoire designer band, but instead found at my local jeweller an identical style to the first pic and they created it. Saved a ton that way but it looks absolutely the same. Thing I like? I can wear the band by itself too.
@bellenga: Those are sooo pretty. I've never seen any like them before.
@Loribeth: Wowza. Stunning set. I never thought about doing a band on both sides...
@bellenga: I LOVE the second set! However, the first set is equally as beautiful. Now I reeeeally can't wait until I see them together!
I love the band too from Loribeth!
What I love is the versatility of my band. I can wear just the e ring (slightly wider band on my 3 stone) by itself as it's not super skinny. Or the wedding band. Or both!
I have to admit. I saw about five years ago the band similar to that worn by Jessica Simpson. Loved it.

Her marriage may have tanked, but wow. I remember seeing that band years ago in starmagazine or something and drooled over it. I thought it was very unusual too.
@lindsay I have a pic but the ring wasnt sized yet. It lines up perfectly! Ill post it neway :p
This is my E-Ring. I did not pick it out, he went and bought it then showed his family and then eventually proposed to me. I LOVE it!!! He said when he saw it he just knew that it was me and had to get it. Now we are shopping for a 'ring gaurd' so the next ring will set on both sides of this ring.
Sorry guess my file was messed up. I'll have to fix that
@LindsayB: Thanks! We hadn't considered a ring on both sides. We found it by accident. The jeweler was just about to pull out catalogs for us to look through because we hadn't found anything in the store that I liked. We sat down to wait for him to get the catalogs when I looked down into the case, and there was my ring. I pointed at it and said "What about that one?" The jeweler pulled it out and it was like it was made to go with my ring.
If you decide to look at wraps, remember they're made to fit a solitaire, so the two sides might have to be spread apart a bit for your three stone ring to fit in properly. It's a very easy thing to have done.
Here is my engagement ring with my wedding band. The band is a bezel set eternity band to match the half-bezel sidestones in my engagement ring.
@bellenga: Jessica's band was beautiful, but I'm not a fan of pear shaped diamonds. Probably because it's impossible to do something symetrical with them, so they always look kind of "off" to me.
Littlemissmango, I feel you about the ring size! I got mine in Aug. but the jewerly sized down from a 7 to a 4.25. And when I say the stones on the side were coming out and I was getting pissed. So they had to re-order one form the maker in Italy. And for him I picked a tungsten band with diamonds (1,088) which I wish his taste would be a little more simple.....
@Bride 2011: I am surprised that they sized it down that far. When I worked for a jewelry store, we were told we couldn't size down three stone more than one size. If it had to be sized more than that, then it had to be special ordered.
Your ring sounds similar to mine. Mine has a curve so nothing sits flush. We went with a similar band and this is what it looksl like. I love it and I can't wait to wear it all together! :D

@bellenga: Why the ??? about your husband wanting the yellow gold? I think every man I know wears a yellow gold wedding band, if he wears one. FI immediately told me when we got engaged that he'd want a yellow gold band, like his father wears.
I have a three-stone ring so I like seeing these pics. I'm stumped about what my wedding band will look like though! I have a really unique ring designed after an antique ring I found on the internet, and it's yellow gold, so quite uncommon right now. I can't decide what sort of band would look best with it, at all. Nothing seems right.
I love mine, it has a small dip in it to fit snug with the e-ring:

I love all of these ring pics! And thanks for all of the suggestions, ladies. :)
The ring I was looking at was almost exactly like mmm31911's band, only it was just one thin band of diamonds as opposed to one on each side. Now that I see it in action, I love it even more.
I think I just might have to go back to the store tonight and place a deposit on it. Oooo! Now I'm getting excited all over again! :D
I had a hard time finding something that I felt looked "right". I finally found it:
@OttawaBride2011: :O That is so unique...I love that. Like, love love that. Do you have any more pictures?
@LindsayB: Thanks!! I got it at Peoples, which is a Canadian store I think. Here is the only other picture I have on my work computer! I can't find a stock photo.
