I heart my engagement ring, but it’s a weird shape – that round part extends right to my finger and there’s no way anything can fit next to it. I don’t want to get a funny shaped band to fit next to it because then I’ll never be able to wear that alone. So the question is, does the band *have* to match the engagement ring? I anticipate wearing one or the other (not both) most of the time, or wearing my e-ring on my right hand (doesn’t that feel WEIRD??!)
I’m attaching a pic of my e-ring and the band I’m considering. I should also mention this is a temp band as we are BROKE and thought simple silver bands would do for now and maybe we can upgrade in a few years. (Whiteflash Skye anyone?) Thoughts?

I think a lot of people do this… have a band to wear alone. My *only* concern would be for the wedding day when you might want to wear both… but you could always wear your ering on your right hand and wedding band on left 🙂

With the shape of your engagement ring, it looks like you would probably have to always wear the band alone. I think there would be a huge gap between them. But no, they don’t have to match at all!

I plan on wearing my band alone. It’s beautiful, and it does it’s job! Says that i’m taken! I could wear it with my e-ring, and might for special occasions, but day to day, I’ll only be wearing my band! Your e-ring is beautiful though!!!!

I don’t think it has to match at all. I also have an obscurely shaped ring (a very large pear stone) that I will be unable to wear a matching band with. I am kind of stoked on it because I don’t really like the idea of stacked band anyways! My wedding band is going to look nothing like my engagement ring but it just fits my personal style.
Anywho, on the wedding day I’m going to wear my e-ring on my right hand and obviously the wedding band on the left. In day-to-day situations it will pretty much be the same but I’m likely only going to wear my engagement ring when the mood strikes me.
PS. I love your e-ring. It’s simply stunning.

First, can I say how beautiful your e-ring is? I absolutely love it!
I don’t think your bands have to match. I’ve actually seen a lot of girls wear their band on their left hand and their e-ring on their right hand as well. I don’t think you should worry about them not matching!

Nah, they don’t have to match. I think its becoming more and more common to wear erings/wedding bands as seperates…I am doing it as well…..Btw your ering is beautiful

This post eased my mind about the same exact thing! I’ve definitely been struggling to find a band to go with my e-ring and now that you’ve all helped me to realize that I can just wear my e-ring on the right, I feel like there are endless possibilities for my band! Thanks so much 🙂 I’ve included a picture of my emerald e-ring….

I love your Engagement ring! Here is a thought! You could set aside your REAL engagement ring and get a nice “fake” diamond set into a say white gold setting.
My mom did this. She took her real engagement ring my dad gave her and tucked it away for safe keeping and she got a “fake” daimond off of QVC and had that set in white gold! It looks like the real thing but it’s not!
