I’m curious to see how many of you speak to your FH/Family/Friends about WeddingBee and other wedding forums. As in – “I saw this cute idea on the bee the other day”, or “OMG GUESS WHAT JUST HAPPENED ON WEDDINGBEE??” Or – “I asked the bee’s and they said xyz…….”
My FI knows I love my forums, and that I am an active member of a wedding forum but I don’t bring it up all the time to him and when I do I feel kind of silly spouting off on a tangent about what stangers on the internet are doing or suggest we do! But at the same time the inspiration and ideas are invaluable to our planning and we have got some great ideas off here.
So I guess my question is, what category do you fall into?
a) My FH and I stalk the boards together every night. He has his own log-in and/or has been known to use mine with urgent ettiqute questions that just won’t wait. We wouldn’t make a decision without the other, and both want as much information as possible from those been-there-done-that brides!
b) He knows I frequent Wedding Bee/Wedding Wire/The Knot, but I dont bombard him with the stories. I get some great ideas from the Bee for our wedding and then work it into conversation without giving away the fact I’m a forum bride so as to not weird him out. “Oh, I read about this couple who did Watermelon Gazpacho as a starter the other day – what do you think?
c) It’s my secret guilty pleasure. I’d be mortified if he knew I took the opinions of strangers so seriously when planning something as intimate as our special day! Besides – I like to take the credit of coming up with these awesome ideas all by myself. I mean – lawn games at the cocktail hour? Fingerprint tree guestbook? Genius.

I fall in the second category. Sometimes I look over and he has a wry smile on his face and goes “Are you a Bee, Aimee?” He thinks its pretty funny that I come on these sites and wonders aloud what I’m going to do with all of my time after the wedding (which usually leads to suggestive comments LOL).

I’m category B. It was an absolute secret until we got engaged and even a bit after, but now I’m fairly open with the fact that he better not look at my iPad screen when I’m looking at wedding stuff.

I’m in between A and B. I tell him stories, but he never looks at it with me! Some of the stuff on here (like the girl who found a leg in the woods!) is just too good not to share!

I’ll occasionally tell him funny stories from the Bees or read him ridiculous drama threads. He finds it amusing. But mostly, it is more just my thing.

I tell him some of the more hilarious board posts, but he doesn’t care that I stalk the recaps board!

i am in between B and C… he knows i am here and if i get sucked into a particularly crazy thread i might tell him about it but i dont want him looking here and finding my posts etc. i like have a place where i can be a bride-ish as i want and not have to risk boring FI or my friends to death. i want to keep the bee just for me. and you ladies of course.

It’s not really a secret-secret, because I tell him about things I see on here, and I’ve sent him links to a few things I’ve found on other wedding sites, but I’ve never actually come out and said “I visit weddingbee almost every single day”. I feel a little silly about it, but I’d tell him if he asked obviously.

@abbie017: Same. Funnies I share with him, but not much else.

I tell him some stories, and then he will just look at me and nod. Then I do the same thing to him when he starts talking about his card games. lol.

Occasionally I’ll read out a story to him, but otherwise it’s ‘my’ thing, just like The Escapist is his thing. He knows I’m totally obsessed by this, and by blogging both wedding things and recipes.

Sometimes I tell him stuff if I found it very interesting but he knows I love this site and generally refers to it as the “ignore FI site” lol

Haha. Mr CL literally just asked me what my username was. I told him I posted a photo of him in his new wedding suit, and he wanted to check out what people were saying about him!

He knows I go on and I’ll occasionally share something funny with him. Last night I told him about the girl who’s FMIL gave her the ex-wife’s photo album and about pictures I saw of Mrs. Mink’s wedding.

I’m somewhere between A and B. He knows I’m on here just about every day, and I share some of the more dramatic stories with him. I also told him about my ring twins and how they both PM’d me for advice!
