This is my very first post and was hoping to get some feedback on my dress. I have not yet received the dress I purchased and my wedding date was moved to next month!!! I have a great seamstress that will be altering my dress (adding cups and bustle) and possibly add sleeves. I was okay with the dress until I showed my fiance he was very surprised…not the kind of surprised I was hoping for. He expressed that he is worried that I will not be comfortable because I never show my arms. Just some background: I’ve lost 110lbs and have very visible stretch marks. As I talked myself into buying the dress because I just wanted to have a dress I thought maybe I could use a self tanner to conceal them. Now I can’t stop thinking about it and want to add sleeves. I was always drawn to wedding dresses with sleeves but didn’t find anything with sleeves at the bridal salons I went to… so I thought a cap sleeve was the close enough. What do you bees think? Should I add sleeves… is it even possible to find lace that will match my dress? I have been stressing over this and I am even considering buying another dress off the rack since I haven’t even received the allure dress I ordered. Any advice or emotional support would be great!!!
Here is the dress that I haven’t received yet
This is what I am hoping to have the sleeves look like on my dress …maybe with 3/4 length sleeves

Firstly congratulations on your weight loss. As for the dress, you might struggle to find matching lace. Maybe you could order it from the manufacturer. It might be difficult for the seamstress to blend the lace in with the existing lace. If the lace on your dress is a detachable overlay maybe they could make you a new one with sleeves.
If it’s only stretch marks that you’re worried about maybe you could look into camouflage make up like dermablend. If that stuff can hide tattoos I’m sure it’ll make short work of any stretch marks. And I’m sure that they’re not as bad as you think. If you choose to rock the dress without sleeves, I’m sure everyone else will be too focused on how great you look to worry about your arms.

Thank you for the feedback! I’ts the appearance of stretch marks that I can’t get over. I have accepted the shape of my arms it’s been 3 years since my weight loss but they look better than when I was heavier, so I am happy. Honestly, what I should really be concerned about is that I do not have the dress yet. The salon said the dress will be ready to be shipped to them in 48 business hours yesterday and I am worried that it might get delayed even more. Should they provide an estimated date for delivery or a tracking number? I am considering buying a different dress as a back up plan and sell the 9068.

allure9068: I love your Allure dress! Congrats on your weight loss. I wouldn’t do anything until it comes so you can see how it looks then you can think about your options i.e sleeves, bolero etc.

CatyLady: I would wait…but my wedding is next month and the salon hasn’t given me a date that it will actually be ready to be picked up. I’m definitely not going to have it by the end of this week…maybe as early as next week, but the salon didn’t give me a date.

allure9068: maybe try buying a bolero?

Oh boy – thats why i dont show my FI my dress. lol! He makes me question things I would otherwise not be questioning. I dont think you should add the sleeves. You loved the dress so much without the sleeves thats why you bought it. If you end up hating the way the sleeves turn out than you wont have time to fix it. You will look beautiful on the wedding day and the sleeve thing will be a thing of the past. I say tell your FI “Im not doing the sleeve thing and i dont want to discuss it anymore” he’ll say ok and be done with it! All the best! Your dress is AWESOME!

allure9068: When I showed FI my dress, along with some others, he wasn’t excited about it at all but loved it on the day. If it comes early next week I think you’ll be OK and I love that Allure dress.

Congratulations on the weight loss!!!!
I am battling something similar. My dream dress is strapless, but I ordered one with 3/4 sleeves because I NEVER show my arms. I am a self- declared queen of cardigans. You will see me wearing one when it’s 103 degrees out. I even started a thread on here called “I Hate My Arms.” However, I’m coming around to the fact that no one will be looking at my arms because the dress and veil are already so beautfiul. I also have th stretch marks, but I’m pretty sure if anyone is close enough to my arms to see them, they probably don’t care.
I think 3/4 sleeves would look good with this dress, but I also think it’s absolutely perfect as is. Remember, your FI seeing a photo of the dress on a model is much different than seeing it on you. You will be beautiful no matter what.

CatyLady: Thank you so much your advice! My fiance feels very sorry for saying anything and I hate that he feels bad about it. I do agree with you and the other ladies who mentioned that it would be different when he sees the dress on me. I really loved the dress when I tried it on and I did feel beautiful…enough to not focus on my arms but the style is a bit out of my comfort zone.
