I don’t think it would be strange, we would have been going to one in a few weeks if it hadn’t been for work getting in the way *shakes fist*

Definitely not, especially since he’s with you :). It definitely demonstrates intent to be engaged soon.

totally go -why the heck not?

but just be prepared, a lot of vendors will start the salespitch with you by saying “lets see your ring!” and “so whens the wedding?”

I just went to my first bridal show and I am also “waiting”. I went with a girlfriend who is engaged, but I asked plenty of my own questions. My boyfriend and I have been researching wedding ideas, and plan to get married shortly after our official engagment anyhow! I noticed a TON of women without rings too.

If it’s the both of you going, I think it’s fine! Lots of non-engaged people go in support/to help their engaged friends/family.

Agreed with @mandypop:

I just went to one. I am engaged and getting married in a month but the vendors do assume that you are the bride and he is the groom so you will be bombarded with questions on your wedding.. At the one I went to they put a BRIDE sticker on you as well so it may be a little awkward for you. I see no problem with starting the lightly plan when you are not engaged yet as in just getting some ideas on the go but this may be too much before you are actually enagaged, or if you have a girlfreind who is engaged that would be a good thing to do.

I know of people who bought (!) their wedding dress before getting officially engaged, so why shouldn’t you look? GO!  It’ll be fun, and he’s with you so you can share thoughts.

I think it’s fine.  Like the PPs said though, just be prepared.  The vendors will assume that you are engaged.  And the number 1 question will be “When is your wedding?”  If you are sure that this won’t cause any additional “waiting stress” then there’s no harm in it.  🙂

Just go, there is one near me in Janurary and (Godforbid) I’m still just a girlfriend at that point, I don’t care I’m going. Go and enjoy yourself

As long as you’re both okay with it…. then why not.

I do want to warn you though… those bridal expos can be a little annoying. I went to one and we had just gotten engaged. We had people coming up to us asking when our big day was…(we didn’t have a date yet).

To sum it up…. You’ll get a lot of vendors approach you asking if you’d like their services or to enter a contest… I won a free veil. Pretty ironic because I didn’t want one! You’ll eat lots and lots of cupcakes!
