@jaia07:  We had a destination elopement in another country (Canada).  We opted to drive there in our own car (2500 miles in all!) because last minute flights and care rental would have been over $2000 (opposed to $450 in gas money).  Ours was an 11 day road trip and we were married on day 5 – so a wedding and honeymoon wrapped into one!

So here is what we spent on just the wedding part:

My wedding look: $701 (dress, slip, shoes, bra, jewelry, hair flower)

His wedding look: $233 (suit from Kohl’s, shirt, tie, hankie)

His Ring: $350 (it was $700, but I traded in a ring that was valued at $350)

License/Officiant: $206 total

Photography: $1260 (3 hours, plus her 4 hours of travel)

Details: we did an elopement package at a lodge in a national park and it came with  bouquet, bout, champagne, three course dinner, one tier wedding cake and more, plus our breakfasts for the stay: price was $550 on top of the room rental, but valued much more!

TOTAL $3300  (just wedding stuff)

The rest of the trip – other food, gas, lodging, came in at about $3700.

@jaia07:  Cool!  It was Yoho National Park, right next to Banff National Park. You’ve probably heard of Emerald Lake too.

We were going for big mountains after having it originally planned in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, anything less would have been a let down!

We didnt really have a budget, but just tried to be as economical as we could on each item, as we were dealing with our savings and just a small amount from family. We spent around 20k, since its been a while I cannot remember exactly what I spent on each item

Our budget was very low, FH wanted to keep it at $2500…hahaha.  We are at about $5000 and I know I haven’t kept track of all the DIY stuff I have bought.

Venue (Ceremony, reception, food, drink) $2400

DJ $450

Photographer $475

Baker (Cake, 12 dozen cupcakes, and grooms cake) $300

My attire (My dress was only $100 but I bought ceremony shoes and then reception shoes as well as a “back up” dress if I opt to change for the later part of the reception) $350

His (custom made vest and ties with his own jeans and white button down shirt) $100

Invitations $30 (I made them myself)

Popcorn bar $200

Day of Coordinator $350

DIY (centerpieces, alternate guest book, flower girl bell wand, misc candy for candy buffet) $500

Flowers (bouquets & bouts) $0 my sister is a florist and making them as our wedding gift

Officiant – a bottle of liquor…FH’s cousin is an ordained minister and she’s marrying us.  She just asked for a bottle of her favorite booze in payment.  We will probably pay for her hotel room as payment as well.

This is for 70ish guests, Saturday evening in May

Moopers Mom, I think the bottle of booze for an officiant is hysterical!

Anyway, here is my budget. I am a cheapskate bride with champange taste ( I’ve got savings and a good job, but would rather spend it on other things), we are getting married in September in Northern California (Marin county. I don’t have the exact budget right now, but here is the breakdown of everything so far.

My wedding look: $500. I have a vintage Grace Kelly-esque ball gown from 1950 and a Victorian lace Mantilla that I found in a vintage shop for $35, the $200 is the cost of alterations as well as some Kate Spade bow Earrings and an art deco comb I bought.

Food: 3750 ( which includes linnens, chairs, tables etc as well)

Flowers: $1000 for DIY silk flowers, vases etc ( I like to go a little over board on these) for ceremony and reception

Venue: 900 ( a victorian mansion in Marin County where my parents were married 35 years ago)

His look:0–he is wearing a top hat and tails from the turn of the century that he already has.

Officiant-0, my aunt is performing the ceremony.

Photographer- Found someone I like for $1000

Cake–$400, having a friend make it.

Live classical musicians for ceremony: $400 ( an ipod is our DJ for the reception!)

That’s about it for now! Glad to see other budget conscience brides here!!

  • Wedding: December 2015

jaia07:  I don’t have a breakdown like yours because I’ve just started planning,  but FI and I are expecting to spend between $20,000 – $25,000.00 for our wedding, this price will include our honeymoon n both our rings. We aren’t getting married until Dec., 2015. This will allow us to pay cash for everything without having to use credit cards or interfere with our savings. So far, I have my ering, the bands are being custom made, I just bought his wedding band, my wedding dress, my shoes,  made my bouquet and I’ve purchased some other wedding items.
