Im thinking of having a different flavour for each tier. I’m picking between vanilla, lemon, red velvet and chocolate

@SouthernGirl:  I had cupcakes. We had two flavors.

Orange-butter: orange-butter cake with cream cheese icing topped with fresh strawberries.

&

Cherry Cordial: chocolate chip cake with cherry butter cream icing topped with a chocolate covered cherry.

I personally LOVE carrot cake, BUT that’s not everyone’s thing.

The wedding I went to yesterday had lemon cake and red velvet. I think I’m the only one in the world who doesn’t like red velvet. But other then me, red velvet is a pretty safe bet. Lemon I think most people are not the biggest fans of. There were SO many slices of lemon lying around… It was good cake, but you have to like lemon.

I don’t think you can do wrong with chocolate ganache.

@SouthernGirl:  If you are doing three flavors, why not your fav, your FI’s fav and the third one something “safe” that 99% will love. Don’t worry about being boring, just worry about it being good. Most people aren’t going for the “interesting” flavor, they will go with what they are familiar with.

@SouthernGirl:  We’re having four different flavours, but we’re undecided between the following at the moment: vanilla sponge with strawberry and buttrcream; caramel and toffee; carrot cake; lemon sponge with lemon buttercream; chocolate fudge cake.

We’re doing cupcakes and they’re going to to be red velvet with cream cheese frosting as well as chocolate chip with vanilla frosting.  Don’t worry too much, the bakery will lead you in the right direction.

We’re doing a raspberry almond cake.

@SouthernGirl:  Maybe you pick a flavor and FI picks a flavor? Is there a flavor that would go with your wedding theme at all?

I personally love traditional nut flavors. My cousin had a pistachio layer, almond layer, and hazelnut layer (hazelnut is the best!) although this would not be cool if anyone in your family has nut allergies.
