I’ve never had their wedding cakes but tops in the local grocery store around here and the bakery is nothing special. I think the grocery stores by where I grew up all had better ones, but tops isn’t horrible either.  It just depends on how important the cake is for you.  if you are offering other desserts and just want a wedding cake I think it is a good option.  If you are wanting anything special, I’d go to a bakery or to a specialty grocery store

Tops is also a local grocer around me, and I would NEVER get one of their cakes! When I see a Tops cake at a birthday party, I steer clear.  That is the general consensus in my town.

I am sure you could find a specialty grocer (as PP said) or a cheap bakery.

They are also known for having terrible customer service, as a heads up!

I’m guessing if Tops is a local grocer than Wegmans is as well – go with Wegmans! Wegmans has an amazing bakery. Tops is nothing special.

@esk716:  I totally should have mentioned this in my original post!  Wegmans has amazing cakes, especially the “ultimate” cakes. They dont advertise it, but they will do a small tiered cake, and the taste is UNBELIEVABLE.  They are doing mine! It’s also very inexpensive, and comes in tons of flavor/ frosting combos.

I grew up with Tops and their cakes are nothing special…. Wegmans, on the other hand… if tops is local, wegmans should be too. Given the choice, definitely go with Wegmans.

@keevolpi:  I’m sure they can… I’d call the bakery to ask for sure.
