Couldn't she make the pearls out of icing or sugar, so that it is edible?
Or are you considering removing the pearls before the cake cutting and serving?
The pearls are in place of ribbon, they are on the base of each layer of the cake. They will be on the cake for the cutting but not the serving.
She could make a frosting boarder, but I asked her to follow a picutre that has a string of pearls around each layer to give it a very clean look.

Oh i see. I'm not sure where you are located but I found lots of fun things at M&J Trimmings in NYC. It has a HUGE selection of pearl strands.

Try the baker's kitchen webiste. They are edible...this way you wouldn't have to remove the pearls.

I am having a wedding cake with pearls around each layer. The woman making my cake asked for me to pick up the pearls for her. My wedding is in three weeks (!!) so i need to figure this out pretty quickly.
Does anyone know where you can get 9 feet of pearls? I have seen some websites that sell strings of fake pearls very cheaply, but I would love to have a website or store recommended by someone who has used them before so i can get my purchase right the first time...(three weeks doesn't give me much time to re-order anything if it isn't nice or just doesn't come)
