We’ve found our cake person, but haven’t actually placed our order. The cake we want is at a 3-tiered cake and a small sheet cake to feed ~120 guests.

If we do buttercream frosting, the cakes will cost ~$500 and if we do fondant, the cakes will cost ~$900

EDIT: I really liked the idea of doing cupcakes, but we found that the “prettier” cupcakes (lots of decorating, etc.) were just as expensive as cakes, so the best way to save money with those is to either get basic cupcakes or make them yourself instead (but I personally don’t really want the added stress of baking/decorating everything on time).

The wedding cake will feed 70 and the grooms cake will feed 40. 2 layers on the wedding cake are fake and 1 layer on the grooms cake is fake. I chose our baker because they’re one of the best in the area plus they have cake packages. They have like 12 cakes (wedding and groom) to choose from and based on how many people you’re wanting to feed you pick accordingly. The cost is $325 for both cakes. We’re having no more than 40 people at the wedding so we’re going to have plenty of cake left over but I can’t find a price better than that.

I went way over board and spend a disportionate amount of my budget on dessert.  I’m doing cakes and pies so it might not be a fair comparison.  150 ppl $650.  Pricey but it makes me happy and more importantly keeps me sane because its my one thing I just did what I wanted

We had a private baker, so her prices were much cheaper than what we would’ve paid at a bakery. We had 5 seperate cakes that fed 200+ people…we paid a little over $300 for it.

Mine was 2.50/slice and 120 servings… so about $300. We got vanilla cake with two fillings per layer; lemon curd and raspberry with buttercream frosting. And she let us use the cake stand for free! (we just had to return it the next week) Plus, we get a 1 year anniversary cake, so no icky freezer cake!

My cake will be a three tiered cake and is included in my wedding package at the hotel.  Therefore, I have no idea at this point how much it costs.
