I have a question about the processional portion of the ceremony.  Our officiant will be leading my FI and our groomsmen to the altar from the side, and the guys will be waiting at the altar (the bridesmaids will walk down the aisle by themselves).  My bridesmaids will be walking down the aisle to Pachelbel Canon in D -- does this play for the guys as they walk in, do the guys walk in to something else or to no music?

Do our parents go to their seat before the guys come in?

    Thanks everyone!

I think that the guests get seated first including the MOB and MOG then the groom and groomsmen come in from the sides.

I'm having my groomsmen double as ushers. So they will seat all of the guests then go back to the alter and wait for my bridesmaids, moh etc.

I'm having my parents/grandparents escorted to their seats with their own song and then the bridal party escorted with a different song.

If I were you I would just have the guys walk down to the same song as the girls... it might be a little awkward if they walk down in silence!

re:processional music,it is a good idea to listen to pieces and make it personal as it is,after all, your wedding. as a trumpet player,i have played Prince Of Denmark,Trumpet Voluntaire and Rondo{Mouret  ...the masterpiece theater theme] so many times,i can do this in my sleep. If asked to play them,I put everything into them, but you might want to consider a raft of other possibilities, less well known, but equal in quality and emotional import to these standards. keep in mind when you hire musicians that they have a body of work they perform,so if you want something way outside their repertoire it means more time and probably ,for that reason ,more money. It is worth it to put in the extra effort ,research and money, though.

additionally,it seems right to have different music for the bridesmaids than you use for the groomsmen. the wedding march itself should sound more grand and big than whatever has preceded it.
