i think this really depends on your personal taste. Just go to their website and see what you like within an acceptable price range. I don't think people will be able to suggest anything as styles are very subjective as is your definition of "cheap"
Some of the Mikasa ones I remember being cheaper. Macy's seems to always have our pattern on sale. It's Noritake.
Macy's ALWAYS goes on sale. Ours fluctuates between $149 and $99! It's Royal Doulton Opalene. Check Crate and Barrel too.
We just registered for Lenox Silver Song http://www.lenox.com/cat/index.cfm?fuseaction=prod&pid=30770&kf=&pagenum=1
But, I really struggled with the idea of registering for china too. I really do not like a lot of what I saw and this is one of the few that I wasn't totally turned off by. I like that it has a little color and is a little different. Also, we are getting married at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch, and it has a pic of a hummingbird on it...so,it kinda goes.
Really, this is a pretty personalized decision. You have to decide how plain you want it to be, how much metal you like, if you want it to have color, etc.
Good luck!
One of the Mikasa white patterns would serve well for 25 years. Good company.
Crate and Barrel's fine china is all under $90 a place setting.

Some of the Vera Wang settings are under $129.Mine (Grosgrain) is $139, which isn't that far off.
My cousin has the Waterford Padova china and it is gorgeous!
Also check out Lenox -- the Federal patterns are lovely

Does anyone have a recommendation for nice, cheap(er) wedding china? We're trying to get our registry together. I never thought I'd register for china but both my mom and future MIL keep telling FI and me to register for more stuff! We're registering at Macy's so if it is something there that'd be even better!
