Kendrao:  I suggest you stick to your color theme- mint, grey and white- and let your FI dress himself. I think he can wear whatever he wants and not affect the rest of your color palette at all. He is the Groom! It’s ok if he stands out.

Is he wearing a grey suit? You could add mint to the boutonnniere and he will be perfect.

I would not start adding red to your decor after finding out that your BM is using red. That could be very hurtful to your relationship.

I think you should do whatever colors you want, regardless of what colors other people are doing.  People don’t get to “own” colors, and I’m sure your wedding/wedding colors will look very different with only using the red as an accent.  You could talk to your friend about it if you are really worried.

Is that what you want though?  Would you be happy with the red?

I have to be honest, when I read your post, I wasn’t sure that those colors worked together, but after a little color palette searching on pinterest, I’d say it’s definitely workable.

mint green and pomegranate red wedding color theme --never thought Christmas colors would look so pretty! ❤

After reading the comment above mine, I do see her point about hurting your friend’s feelings – I don’t see why you can’t just talk to her directly about it though.

Also, I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me to mention – my fiance’s tie will be the only thing at the wedding that is of that color.  We are doing peach/peachy pink and white, most of the decor is just white, centerpieces are flowers in my colors.  Then we chose this sort of teal for his tie that compliments peach – neither of us liked him in peach!  I think it will work fine.

Good luck!! 🙂

Kendrao:  I think the red tie will be a nice little addition and make him stand out some. Our colors were changed to coral and brown recently and I plan to let my FI wear a camo tie. He wanted an all camo wedding but I quickly put my foot down there.

Kendrao:  I agree with PPs – I think the pop of red on just your FI would look nice and make him stand out a little. The mint in the bout is a great idea.

I would mention it to your friend, but not make a big deal out of it. If one of my friends had a similar color scheme to mine I wouldn’t be bothered, but it would be nice to know they thought of me before making a decision. I don’t think it’s a big deal for your FI’s tie to be red, but I think it would be nice to casually say something and see how she feels before adding more red in.

Kendrao:  my BBF and I are getting married within weeks of eachother and our colour scheme is very similar (mink & ivory). I chose these colours first but I’m so glad she has too- it shows me I’m on the right track!

I think tiny touches of red would look very pretty and with the other colours you have chosen it won’t look anything like your BM’s wedding. I think it would be a very pretty combination

You could have him do a red tie or a red vest, and have the groomsmen wear red socks or have their boutonnieres be red. Or maybe have the bridesmaids have their bouquets wrapped with red ribbon.

Kendrao:  Please say you meant to have his “tie” red not his “tux”.
