I am currently in the very beginning stages of planning my wedding and my fiance and I have run into a bit of a road block. His favorite color is Red, while mine is blue. We would like to use those colors, but everthing I am finding looks a bit too much like a patriotic 4th of July 🙁 So, I am here, asking you other bees for some tips!! What accent colors and things could I use to make my wedding look like the rustic country glam day that I am hoping for, and less like a patriotic party?
My fiance and I both grew up in rural Tennessee towns, and have a love for the outdoors. He grew up on a farm, while am (way!) more on the girly side 🙂 He loves sports, and I love books.
Ideas, suggestions, or inspirational photos or boards would be EXTREMELY appreciated!!

What about a dark red and a tiffany blue? I love that combo,
ETA: or teal/cherry like this

You can still have red and blue but pick different shades of one or both
red and aqua
red and royal blue
go to http://www.theperfectpalette.com and see all the variations on this theme.

I was THIS close to going with aqua and red. The combo still makes me swoon every time.

I thought of the BBQ picnic wedding the David Tutera did on TV a while ago. The pictures show a lot of red but I recall that the bridesmaids were in navy dresses and looked really cute. I think it could work being more formal with darker, saturated shades of the colors. I think if I was you, I’d also pick one color to be more dominant and make the other more of an accent that way it doesn’t scream fourth of July… Not that that’s a bad thing! Hope this was in any way helpful and I can’t wait to hear how it all turns out!

I was also going to suggest red and aqua/Tiffany blue… A friend and I decorated a Christmas party in these colors and it didn’t look 4th of July-ish at all!
I think it is very classy and looks great when I’ve seen pictures of weddings with these colors!

agree, LOVE red and aqua. I was otherwise going to suggest dark red like a currant or a cranberry colour and navy blue

@julies1949: So glad you posted that Tiffany blue and red example. I remember seeing it on another thread a couple of days ago and was just going to try to post a link for her! 🙂
