I am getting a little stuck with choosing my wedding colors and would love some help. Basically, I am having a UP theme wedding and will be using lanterns extensively as part of my decoration. As I am a complete lover of all things vintage, I have decided that I will combine my love for vintage with the UP old-school adventure theme and mute the bright colors to a pastel tone. However, I simply cannot decide on the colors (which are also restricted by lantern colors).
I will also be intending to decorate the place with bunting, burlap and vintage lace (ivory shade) and trying to match the dessert table to the colors.
#1 – Colorful pastels
This one is my favourite scheme actually but I am afraid that with everything being so light, the wedding will look a little washout. Especially with the wedding reception being in a dark surrounding. So, I am thinking of modifying this to reflect their brighter shades. Haven’t found an inspiration board for it yet.
#2 – Romance with a purple twist
Love this for the romantic feel. But are just two colors (pewter seems really neutral) a little muted for the UP theme?
#3 – Pink & Blue
Love the colors but greedy me really wish i could work in lavender (maybe light lavender) into this one.
#4 – Warm pink
This one definitely gives me a warmer feel to the whole surroundings. The only issue is finding lanterns to reflect the gold. The gold ones I have seen online are the metalic gold sort and I can’t say i am comfortable with the way it looks.
Thanks a lot ladies!!

I picked #1.
I just thought it was the most “Up” while also being romantic and vintage looking.
Any of them would work though.
What a fun theme!!

@tuesdaychild: Either 1 or 3! They both would look fabulous!

They’re all pretty color schemes, so it’s going to come down to your own personal preference. For example, do you prefer purple or gold (#2 vs #4)? For what it’s worth, I think of colorful when I think of UP. So, I’d go with option #1.

I’m more of a bold gal myself, so I didnt vote, but it’s really what you are inspired by 🙂 I think the first pics fit well w/the vintage theme, but I’ve seen all kinds of colors work. I would look through some of the recaps here and on weddingchicks, they have a lot of the pastels and you can kind of get an idea of what your wedding might look like. They also do a lot of vintage weddings on there. You might look at mile high bride.com too, we seem to have a lot of vintage inspired weddings here in colorado-good luck!

If you’re going for an “Up” theme, I’d definitely go with #1 – however, “Up” was just a bit brighter and bolder than the colors shown in the example. If you are set on an “Up” theeme, don’t be afraid to go bold! I’ve got a very similar color palette but just jazzed up and a bit brighter. It brings such a sense of fun and joy to your day.
But I do think those pastels are very lovely, though!
P.S. Though our wedding is not “Up” themed, our recessional is going to be the “Up” theme played at the beginning and end of the movie… it’s so sweet, and the song itself is called “The Married Life,” which is perfect for obvious reasons!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It will be a colorful mix of pastels for the summer wedding! And a vintage photobooth! <3
