so am having major trouble deciding on wedding colors .. I seem to change my mind every other minute. What are your wedding colors and what the the inspiration that made you say.. "this is it!"
if you have inspiration photos .. please post I need some inspiration.
I was thinking of plum/eggplant color and I wanted to pair it with something that pops so I wanted lime green and ivory. BUT I saw a mardi gra invitation and I don't want my wedding to be like mardi gras!!
I love the dark purple/plum dresses and I kinda want a vintage feel to my dress, pair it with a blush color for a more romantic feel?
Mine are celedon (a light green) and ivory. We're getting married at a lake, so the green seemed "lakey". That was my inspiration.
Dark purple/plum sounds like really good colors for a winter wedding. I think the ivory would look nice and if you used a green sparsely, it wouldn't look too much like mardi gras.
OUr wedding colors are Red and White, my FH is a huge Redwings (and by proxy I have been sucked in! GO WINGS!
) fans so we thought it woudl be fun to have a hint of a hockey them for the wedding. We're really just trying to bring in elements of our own personalities throughout the wedding, I wasn't really into the red and white at first, I wanted a lipstick pink and brown, but it's growing on me a lot. There are so many beautiful flowers and BM in red that it's making it a lot easier in planning. I really love it now!
we are doing navy & yellow. I think they are great colors for a summer wedding on lake michigan, bm in bright yellow dresses and guys in navy suits, blue hydrangeas, still over a year away, but lots of ideas about how to incorporate the maize & blue! (I'm a michigan alum as are the majority of my family & friends)
Our colors are black, white and canary yellow. I love the classiness of simple black and white, and yellow has always been one of my favorite colors, and it just adds a nice POP to everything. I googled "black and yellow weddings" and all kinds of inspiration boards came up. Maybe you could do the same with colors you are considering? I think plum with champagne or ivory would be really pretty.
Ours are Black and White with shades of Red as the accent color. There is something about the colors Black and White. I absolutely love them and then when you mix a bit of red, Yowsah! Depending on the shade of red too it can be classy, sexy, vintage, etc.
Good luck with your color choices!
mine are Gold, cream, brown and accents of green. I kind of came up with the colors surrounding my wedding dress which is champagne and gold, so I took the gold from there. I wanted brown cause it would make our venue look amazing. cream just to make the brown and gold pop. and the green because its my favorite color, and my FI and his wedding party are wearing green kilts so wanted some greens here and there (my BM dresses, some decor, etc etc)
having plum purple with lime is becoming popular. to avoid the mardi gras look, make sure you go with a darker purple and a lime that is brighter than your average green.
I've chosen dark purple (eggplant) and champagne as my colors and we are are working lots of natural greenery into the decor but not having anything printed with greens. PM me if you are interested in some pix.
my colors will be navy blue and silver. Simple and calming. I thought about a blue and yellow theme too but a lot of schools have that color. Want something different.
My colors are deep plum, lavender & lime green. I have plenty of inspiration photos, its hard to narrow them down! Roguesparkle is right, its becoming much more popular - to my dismay, haha! Anyway, this weekend my mom did some mock-up floral arrangements with purples and greens and they looked really pretty and soft. I think if you have soft colors to break it up, it doesn't look Mardi Gras at all.
My wedding is over a year out, so I haven't settled on colors yet. I keep changing my mind! I think we'll probably end up doing black and white with pops of aqua.
I love daniellemybell's colors! So pretty!
The only other idea I had was to do the deep eggplant with ivory and an antique gold. Do you have a venue yet? That might help you.
I think the dark purple paired with a yellowy lime green, somewhat of a pale sage, would look lovely.
Or! How about the dark purple with a light grey. Very modern. Again, your venue may dictate your color scheme. (Ours did.)
Tentatively, I'm thinking of plum and mustard... I wouldn't have thought to put these colors together, but got inspired by these lovely letterpress invitations:
Ooh! I'm also attempting to do purple and green without gong Mardi Gras! We're going for more of a vintage feel, so I think the shades of green and purple will keep it save. There will be ivory, light green, lavender, and some plum/purple.
Here's some non-Mardi Gras lime and purple action for you: http://finestationery.blogspot.com/2009/03/spring-awakening.html
ddubzz what a great photo.. love it! mvp bride.. thanks for the inspiration! When I see those photos I love the purple and green. I guess at some point I need to make a decision and STICK TO IT .. lol
Keep the inspiration coming ladies. Looking forward to seeing your wedding colors!
Our main color was navy. We used cream, white, blush, and brown as accent colors.
I'm having a white wedding with hits of green. Basically everything will be white except the BM dresses, and little aspects of the decor (we are getting married outside, so I figured green was like my accent color amongst all the white!)
Our colors are burnt orange and chocolate brown. We are getting married in the fall and those are the colors we think about when thinking of fall, plus orange is our favorite color. Good luck on settling on your colors!
We're using champagne and lake blue (though not sticking to it very well!)
Here was one of my favorite inspirations:

my colors are plum and grey, with maybe some light blue. If you go to www.lauraemilie.tumblr.com/tagged/board you can see some of the inspiration boards i found. www.snippetandink.blogspot.com is also great - you can search by color and and see what other colors get put with it!
Oooh, I LOVE the idea of plum and gold.
We're having a summertime wedding, outdoors, totally fun and casual - so we're using bright pink and green. Think stripes, polka dots, and lots of bright, fun flowers! :)
At first I didn't want to have colors at all. But then I got inspired by peacock feathers. So now we are teal and gold.
I love the idea of eggplant and grey that someone suggested above. I think that would do very well with the vintage look you suggested. I also like the purple and mustard invites someone else posted. Who would have thought that would look so nice?
Anyway, for me it was just getting inspired by an object that I wanted to include in the wedding. Then the colors just followed. I had to remind myself that it was just a pop of color for one day and that I didn't have decorate my house or devote the rest of my life or wardrobe to these colors. They just had to look nice for one evening.
we did various shades of grey (mismatched bridesmaids), with pistachio green and rose pink. I like soft and muted rather than 'pops'.
JeniRae that sounds so pretty! Pistachio is one of my favorite colors. If my fiance didn't hate it, I would have totally wanted to incorporate it into our wedding.
Having a beach wedding and so our colors are orange and fuchsia. I think these colors will 'pop' in photographs.
I'm getting married next Sept. and wanted to avoid the traditional fall colors that everyone tends to do (reds, golds, oranges, etc.) - I don't have exact colors, but we'll be having teals, blues, and marigold colors with accents of purples in flowers possibly. See below for my inspiration pics:
although i'm not engaged yet, we have decided on colors...black, gold/champagne with accents of blush pink here and there....we are going for a great gatsby/casual elegant feel to the wedding...
so I have been browsing through Ms. Peacocks posts and I think I am in love with her color palette!!! She used aubergine color, ivory, gold and green. i think I might use a pewter/silver instead of the gold I think this palette will work a June wedding
here is her post:

I think this is it!!! What do you think?
everyone's colors are so fabulous! chree123.. that is really beautiful!
my colors are brown, green, and ivory/cream with accents of yellow. i'm hoping it will be nice for early fall, but still have an air of cheeriness.
teeleaf22 - thank you :) feel free to "steal" the color inspiration! I feel like the teals/blues/yellows color palette could be adapted for basically any season.
yay for pretty colors everyone!
Ours our ivory, rust (I think it's more coppery than rust but whatev) and black. My FI chose rust, we were going to do sage green but he saw a tie in the other color and had to have it. How could I say no, ya know?
we're doing berry and charcoal. Here's my inspiration board...which I've deviated from a bit but the girl's dresses and mine are shown on this board.
Happy inspiration!
Our colors are light yellow, light green and accents of brown. The bridesmaids will be weara yellow and the groomsmen chocolate brown suits. My fiance refuses to wear brown so my Aunt suggested he wear a Khaki color.
We are doing chocolate brown and a deep deep red. We're getting married is September and brown and red are my two favorite colors so I thought how perfect!

I was originally wanting purple too! I was going to team it with bright colours, like in this photo. But then I thought more about our location, which is lakeside in the mountains, and purple and aqua etc just didn't seem to fit. I decided navy would be better but couldn't think of a good accent colour - yellow didn't seem right, and FH *hates* pink. Thank goodness for stylemepretty and snippetandink, which inspired our final choice - navy and lime/apple green. I love this scheme, I love that I've never been to another wedding that used those colours, and I love that it fits with our location.
I love everyone's fancy colors!
Throw a little bit of pink in? A friend of mine is doing purple, green, pink, and orange. Very mardi gras. But as long as she doesn't go overload, it'll all look really nice. and the pink is not a mardi gras color as much as gold/green/purple. I love that color combo
I'm doing champagne and champagne pink. No fancy names for it. Maybe guava and gold, LOL. I love it but it was a PAIN to pull off.
that berry color is perfect by the way
