WOW! Those colors look amazing!!! Don't change them at all. As far being "spring" colors...well I think those color combinations are great for any season ESP SPRING
You're totally right. There's nothing to say that you can only do spring colours if you're getting married in spring. I think your palette looks amazing and so appropriate for a black tie event!
I love your color choices and I think they are perfect for a formal spring wedding. They will really pop, and you will be able to do a lot with them. For those that are saying they aren't spring colors, I think you should tell them to look around at nature during the spring.
I think it will be great together. Formal and nice- perfect for the evening. I'm assuming your flowers will be the shades of deep magenta to pink as shown in the flowers on the picture, it will look awesome. Never mind what people say, it is your wedding.
I LOVE your colors. Magenta and brown go with any season. Good job on picking such pretty colors.
beautiful
and where do people come from giving advice on YOUR wedding
it is just gorgeous
I say go with it. Not everybody's going to like everything, so go with what you like :)
Thank you sooooo much everyone! I really appreciate your opinions. I was on the verge of tears this afternoon to the point of saying I would rather elope. My FH is super sweet and all he asked was for brown to be part of the color theme because it's his favorite color and after that he has basically let me have my way. We discuss everything but he goes with what I want. So this afternoon when my sister turned up her nose at it I just felt so hurt and I started to second guess myself. Gosh this wedding planning is turning out to be much more emotional than I anticipated it would be!
xoxoxox
I say GO FOR IT! I'm a tad biased because we have narrowed our color schemes to two and magenta/chocolate/purple is one of our choices. So of course, magenta and chocolate work just as well, IMO! I love the combo - so rich and romantic!
The photos you posted are gorgeous! Here is the single photo that completely abolished my original theme (I found it on a Google image search so if anyone here happens to deserve credit, credit is given):

MadiLove918 Now that is good inspiration. I love the color fuchsia and turquoise, but i also love fuchsia, purple, and brown........................... ok I need to just make up my mind already. I think I will as soon as we get the bm dresses...
@MadiLove918....WOW!
I love the colour combination. I don't see how those colours wouldnt fit for a Spring wedding, although I personally am not one for saying a colour belongs to a certain season. I think that if you love the colours, go for it- regardless of seasons.
People don't really abide by "seasonal colors" anymore, it's much more about you these days, and I think it's a lovely color scheme :o) GO FOR IT!
Tell everyone to shove it. ;) I think your colors are perfect for any time of year.
Our colors are chocolate brown and lilac. Our wedding is also in April (this year)
i love those colors! reminds me of berries and choco. yummmm! I can't see why it wouldnt work for spring. unless they expect you to pick all pastels and easter colors? silly!
@Love918 I LOVE LOVE LOVE this! The lanterns make it so festive. I guess I'm a tad bit biased too
@mrsgibbs I'm having the same issue right now in trying to figure out the BM dresses. Magenta or Brown...I'm all over the magenta!
@lisagirl Thanks! I'm not sure why everyone think they aren't spring colors, but as someone else said they need to take a look around in nature.
@azinaugust I totally agree. Weddings are much more personal these days.
@danadelphia LOL...trust me I'm close to saying that and a little bit more!
@Melissabegins Thanks! I think that was the appeal to me.
@Headuh ooooooooooo...great minds think alike
If you don't mind me asking what color did you select for the BM dresses?
@sewing ummmm pretty much yes...lol Nothing wrong with that if that's what you love but its not what I love and I think I should be able to get what I love on my special day.
Thank you so much again to everyone. I feel less conflicted about my selection now. xoxo
@Everyone who commented on the photo I posted:
Thanks! I absolutely LOVE the photo and I fully intend on using it as my main inspiration piece (adding some personal touches, too) for our wedding and reception. I was hoping Dutch would love it, too!
Again, go for it! The colors are phenomenal and I'm sure you'll love it!
Go for it! I think you need/want to maybe you can add some lighter shades of magenta or purple to make it a bit more spring-ish. Maybe for a jr. bridesmaid or flower girl?
I'm of the same opinion as you. Who cares what colors you're "supposed" to have. do what you want. i think your colors and your vision are gorgeous!
I think it's a great combo!!!! I'm getting married in November and although we planned our color scheem of dark brown and ivoy/cream before the date, I am constantly getting suggestions that I should do this or that with the fall colors, esp my flowers. Just because I'm getting married in the fall, doesn't mean I want a fall themed wedding!!! Just tell them that... getting married in April doesn't mean you have to have a spring themed wedding.
I think they look great together! Nothing you do is going to make everyone happy. Just remember its YOUR wedding and not theirs!
@DutchBride21 I wanted the girls to wear brown dresses (truffle) but 1 of my BM's found out she was pregnant and DB discontuned their maternity dresses. They had a few left in clearance but only had lilac. So the girls are wearing lilac (and the guys are wearing brown tuxes)
:)
They look amazing together! You can do so much with those colors!
Go for it!
I'm getting married in October and everyone keeps expecting me to have a 'fall' color scheme, but I am totally not interested it in. I've been to so many fall weddings recently, and I don't want red, orange, gold and brown. Instead I'm having peach, pink and pale blue. Why?
1. I like them. And it's our wedding.
2. After your wedding the pictures will be what remains. People will see my pictures and (hopefully) say that they are beautiful. They may not know what time of year my wedding was, and it does not matter. The wedding is one day, but I wouldn't want to have orange photos just because of that day!
It's absolutely stunning!!! Don't listen to them, you have great taste!! It's perfect for a black tie event.
@shanbrice GO FOR IT! Wow!! You're so right. I think I was trying to please too many people and not myself.
Thank you so much ladies! I had another walk through the venue and my colors will just accentuate the venue. I'm in love and I don't plan on changing the colors at all. My event planner even threw in some signature drinks to help tie in the whole hollywood glam theme. She gave us pink martinis!
Go with what you want! I think they look great.
I went to a wedding in October and their colours were pink and brown. Their centerpeices and favours were cherry blossom theme. It looked great.
My colours are berry, pink, and moss green. Originally I was going to have a fall wedding with those colours even though it isn't that fallish. My wedding is now in early Sept due to scheduling conflicts with family.
those will be beautiful in the spring, or anytime! I personally don't prescribe to the only certain colors in certain seasons belief. i think it will be very successful.

Hi Everyone
This is a bit of a vent but I'd also like to hear some opinions. So my fiance and I decided to go with chocolate brown and magenta for our wedding colors. His favorite color is brown. Our wedding date is April 2, 2011 and in the evening. I've been getting a lot of lip from people saying these aren't spring colors. For one I'm not one to adhere to what is supposed to be the norm and two its an evening event that's going to have a lot of glamour. I've attached a picture of the color theme to give you an idea. I don't think we have to do light colors or typical "spring" colors just because the wedding is in April especially since its more of a black tie evening event. Just curios to get some objective opinions.
Thanks! :)
